It feels like I've been lost for a month, only using my brother's computer or iphone  every week after I moved, but I finally have internet service and I've been dying to talk about everything that has been going on with my kitties.

They have been doing relatively well, Lucas hasn't been as sick as I thought he would be, I thank God for that, but it has been stressful for him to adapt to the new house.  He mostly stays in my room during the day and he gets out at night and explores the house.

Nena is happy, like nothing has happened, so no problem there.

Fuzzy is also being a good boy, but he is stressed because I use to take him outside every day and since  he doesn't know this area, we can't let him out.  My Mom's cousin will start building an enclosure in the back yard in a week for the kitties, so they will be able to be outside, but without escaping.

Now, I still haven't been able to bring Flaqui home.  I told in another post what happened, how Flaqui, who still has a lot of feral in her, escaped days before we moved and we weren't able to bring her to the new house.  Flaqui began to notice that things were changing old house, she used to sleep with Fuzzy in a family room we had there,  and I was planning to keeep her there until we moved, but she got crazy and didn't want to be there anymore and she ran out.  I wasn't worried at first because she always is allowed to go out, but this time she refused to get into that room again.  So when we moved, she stayed there and I cried my eyes out. Thank God I'm able to go there everyday to feed her, I talked to the owners of the house and they are allowing me to open the gate, feed her until I catch her.

So , for two weeks I've been going to feed Flaqui everyday, I pet her, talk to her and make sure she eats all her food before I leave, but it is so sad because she is always waiting for me and I hate leaving her there.  She refuses to get into the carrier, she'd rather stop eating than getting in there, but she is so happy to see me everyday and she loves me, I"m the only human that can be near her, she is too afraid on people.

I talked to the vet to see if he could help, but he can't.  My Plan is to buy a bigger carrier and to keep trying until I catch her.  Some people tell me to leave her there, that she won;t adapt to a new place, because she was born free in that area and that she will suffer with a change of environment, and I know that is true, but I can't just stop going and I can't just leave her there, she needs to be with someone, she needs me. What would you do?

There is a lady two houses from where I used to live who feeds the neighborhood cats, I went to talk to her yesterday and I asked her if she has seen Flaqui around and I told her what was going on and she told me to leave Flaqui there, that if she sees her, she will feed her.  But I can't  do that, I wish I could, but I know my Flaqui and she will not go to a strange's house to eat with a bunch of cats, in fact, Flaqui doesn't get along with other cats, she spent her day alone or with Fuzzy, but they weren't really close.

This is not easy,  I just hope Flaqui can adapt to our house.  I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing by taking her out of the area she knows, but I don;t know what else to do.

Sorry I wrote so much, I needed  to vent.

How about at the next feeding time, leave her food inside the carrier? Do it everyday until Flaqui is used entering the carrier. You'll be able to "trap" her and bring her home. Don't worry about taking her away from her familiar environment. I believe she will adapt to the new one if you have the patience and time.

And by the way, congratulations on getting your own internet.

Over the river and through the woods...
Is there any way your vet would prescribe a mild sedative that you could crush up and mix in with her food? I know here they will prescribe if you are going to be traveling and to me that's traveling (even if it isn't for a long distance). It's worth a shot. It may take 1/2 hr to 1 hr for it to kick in but it should make it easier to get her into the carrier.

I think she will be fine at your house, especially if she will be able to get outside using the run. She obviously misses you, she's just too hard headed to make the move the easy way. If they would just learn English (or Spanish) our lives would be SO much easier!

HI TAMMY!!!!!! So glad you are back. You have been missed. I am so sad to hear your Flaqui is still at the old house. But at least you are able to go daily. I honestly think she would adapt anywhere you had to take her. Cats just do - feral or not - in time. I would not leave her there outside to live. Just toooo many unknowns and it will be a constant worry for you. AND if you are building an outdoor enclosure then she would just love to spend some time outside in that during the day. Glad that your other babies are doing well. Funny how Nena is so adaptable and easy-going :D. One less to worry about - huh? :winkblue:  Continued vibes for Flaqui and bringing her home where she belongs. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Do you really think Flaqui may not like the new house? She may really enjoy the outdoor enclosure. Vibes that you can catch her soon :vibes:
