Around 3 this morning I was up so I peeked out in my backyard.  It was pretty foggy so I flipped the light on.  I always do this...I don't know why.  Just to check the weather I guess? LOL

But this was the first time I ever did it and found someone looking back at me!
A little furry someone of course; but I still jumped!  My backyard is fenced in; but there is a slope on one side where the gate is that gives a good opening for small animals to get in and out.

We've had a kitty visitor for a few weeks now.  He (could be a she, but he's orange and white so most likely a he) sits under the chairs on my patio to watch  my bird feeder that is hanging from the eve of the house.  I have one of those Little Tyke cube things with a slide for DD to climb on.  He was laying on the platform of that.  I startled him too. hehe  Oops!

I see him in the yard of the house next door a lot too. But I believe he belongs to the people across the street because I see him there too and they have quite a few farm cats.  I know they feed them and what not too.  And this guy appears well fed.  I hope he is neutered (or spayed if he is a she).  I don't know those neighbors other than saying hi so I've never asked about the cats.

So anyway!  That was my 3 am surprise!

Maybe it's time to ask your neighbors about their cats.  The last thing you need is an unneutered or unspayed cat creating more kittens!  And what about vaccinations and microchip IDs?

Who knows?  If this cat doesn't have a home, perhaps he or she has already chosen one -- yours!  After all, he or she knows you already have cats!

Chasing Da Bird...
Those are the best kinds of surprises! I hope he's neutered as well, but if he's not, and he's adopted your house or yard...you'll know by smell soon enough if he's neutered! The smell of intact Tom cat is something unmistakable, and unforgettable as well!!

Good luck with your new friend!

Hehe...thanks!  I haven't gotten a clear shot of his "goods" yet.  I definitely haven't noticed any there; but time will tell I guess.  I haven't seen him in a few days.  But DH saw him yesterday sitting on some boxes he had stacked outside the garage while he was working on some things in there.  He apparently investigated inside because the light had been tripped on.  Plus the paw prints on our cars... lol

I do think he belongs to the people across the street.  I think I've seen as many as 7 cats in their front yard when they were feeding them once.  And I know he goes over there so their cats know this cat.  These people used to farm a lot of the area around me; but now just do a big plot in front of the house that they sell vegetables from in the summer.  Plus the goat and chickens they still keep.  They are...interesting!  Because the house sits far back; I don't often see them where I could talk without walking over.  Maybe DH can ask about the cat sometime if they happen to be doing yard work near the road when he is.  But he won't be coming to live indoors with us.  I could see us TNRing him before that.  As much as I would love a house full of kitties; I know it's not an option for our family for many reasons.  We live on a country road; but it sees its fair share of traffic in the mornings and evenings.  So I really do not want an outdoor cat.  At least across the street they have a barn to shelter their cats.
