Hi everyone,

My male munchkin recently got into a altercation with another cat ( am assuming) and he got a bad cut in his back paw. I took him to the vet and they put stitches on him. I have to give him antibiotics and make sure he doesn't put these stitches out, by putting on a E-Collar. Now, here is my concern, he isn't eating and i am getting worried. I was wondering if its smart to take him off the E-collar, and put bitter apple instead. Has anyone tried this? Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated!

thank you!

Take the collar off while you are there to supervise so he can eat and groom.  Put it back on the rest of the time.

I would just remove the collar at feeding time and let the cat eat. You should be there the entire time and put the collar right back on after eating etc. That said, if the munchkin goes right for the wound and shows no interest in food, a deterrent might be needed. I don't know if Bitter Apple is a solution. I've had no experience with it with my cats. It does work with my dogs. A friend of mine told me it did not work with his cats and he got another cat specific deterrent which did work. You might ask your vet about which product(s) to use if you find you need to.

I had done that, and let him be free, but every time I take the collar out, he goes to the stitches. He is eating properly, and drinking and doing to the bathroom.

My vet  didn't give me much information. He told me about putting a baby sock on his paw then spraying it with bitter apple, but my cat didn't like the sock and pulled it right out. His a hard man to get a hold of, i need a new Vet.

He is  walking, but his limping a bit. I was wondering about peroxide, does anyone know if this is safe? I just don't want my baby to hurt...
