Help me I'm so worried

Here's my cat routine:

wakes up around 3-4 AM

Breakfast 4-5 AM

snack around 9 AM

nap time from 8-9 AM until 6 PM (lunch in between)

then wakes up and plays until 11 PM

Today everything was normal except my cat woke up from his nap later than usual around 8 PM

(he was normal when he went to nap)

Then I played with him and he seemed normal and ran around but instead of hanging with me in the living room he went to bed and slept.

It's now 12 AM

What could be wrong?

Noticed a little appetite loss a few minutes ago when I tried to give him his favorite snack where he usually jumps on me to eat it. Just smelled it .

I'm very worried.

He needs to see a vet. Impossible to know what's going on but loss of appetite, lethargy and lack of energy are all signs of illness. Loss of appetite will definitely be followed by weight loss and that's dangerous. I think an exam and maybe blood work is in order. You can catch whatever it is early. How old is he? Is he having any other symptoms like straining to go to the bathroom, any vomiting, anything at all?

***Update***

Ok so he just went to use the letterbox and drank some milk (not a lot but at least he had something).

He didn't come back to the bedroom to lay down, he's in the living room just standing)

----Original----

You worried me.

It's 9 AM and he didn't eat breakfast.

Has a slight fever.

Contacted the vet but he's no available for today.

I will see if pet store has a vet.

He didn't go to the bathroom. No vomiting.

I don't know what happened. All of the sudden.

Milk is not really a good think to feed an adult cat, as odd as it sounds.  Most adult cats are lactose intolerant.  From what understand, cream or half and half are better options.

I see it's been about 12 hours since you posted.  How is your boy now?  Any changes?  Has he eaten anything yet?  Pooped or peed?

Thanks for asking. Just got back from the vet. No sign of anything except fever.  Took an antibiotic shot.

Wait and see what happens tomorrow.

I do give him cheese and yogurt.

As an adult cat he doesn't need any milk products at all.  Live natural yoghurt is fine as an occasional treat, but not as a regular thing.  The only time it's natural for cats to take milk is while nursing, and of course the natural kind of milk for them is cat's milk.

Most adult cats are lactose intolerant, so milk can make them sick.

Other than that, cats are very good at hiding illness until it becomes very serious.  The fever could be from a respiratory or urinary infection, among other problems, and both of those would make the cat feel generally poorly.

It would be great if the vet could work out the source of the apparent infection...

Yeah I think you need to stop giving him dairy products like that. There's no reason for it and it's going to bother his tummy. I'm glad you took him in, that fever needs to come down.

shoots, I posted and it didn't go. Anyway, no more dairy for him. It's not good for cats! I'm glad you took him in, the fever needs to come down. Keep an eye on him, if he gets worse bring him to the ER immediately.

My cat loves dairy he wouldn't move an inch from the kitchen until he has his milk or cheese.

Until now no idea, he might caught something while playing outside.

Most important thing is that he is doing much better, and his appetite is almost back to normal.

Took him again the second day and the vet gave him another shot.  Should be normal again after 3 days.

As I said he loves dairy.  And he's doing a lot better.

I'm glad he's doing better.  Do you have to go back to the Vet for any more shots or a follow-up visit?  If so, you might ask about feeding him dairy products.  Normally it's not a good thing, except with yogurt, but your cat seems to be an exception.

I think Finnlacey just meant if he reverts back to being lethargic, fever getting worse, sudden onset diarrhea or vomiting, then you'd need to get him to the Vet again, pronto.

yes, exactly what I meant thank you. Just keep an eye on him and if the fever comes back bring him in right away.

Depending on the amount of dairy it might not be a problem. Riley, my 14/15 year old drinks my cereal milk every morning and he is generally fine, been doing that since he was a little kitten. If he's been eating it for a while without issue, I would highly doubt it to be the cause of the sudden onset fever.

Glad to hear he's on antibiotics. Let us know how he does.

No, the vet said he should be better the next day by 90%.  And that I shouldn't expect him to be back to normal less than 3 days after the second shot.

He's a lot better today.

Oh, ok thanks for explaining.

Actually the vet told me that usually when the lips/gum becomes white it means he's in danger.  Other than that, nothing scary.

About 1- 1.5 table spoon daily.

He's doing fine, thanks for asking.
