I know this is going to emphasize how rarely my friends and I actually manage to get out outside of work, but here goes:

We’re planning a girls day/night just to get together and have some fun while we’re not at work (we all work together) and are looking for something to do. Most of us don’t mind spending a little money, but none of us are in the position to afford something like a spa morning or that. One friend has offered her house if we need a place. So…what do normal, non-work obsessed people do for a girls day that doesn’t cost a fortune?

Seriously – we’ve all been blanking on ideas so suggestions are very welcome.

What about a X party. Like: a tupperware party, or a scentsy party, or an "Girls Only 18+" party (inbox if you're curious.... I think I can probably say the name, a fantasia party...but if you want more info, ask).

It doesn't have to be expensive, and you all bring some good food, maybe some drinks, and so on.

Just a thought since you have a house.

Its called PassionParties :D

Anyway, anything- What about having a spa night at home? Get some fancy soaps & lotions etc, do manicures & pedicures on each other while watching chick flicks, eating chocolate, margaritas, and having fun together?

Why not have a potluck dinner and movie night?  Don't want to watch a movie, play some old fashioned board or card games at the table.

On my birthday we played an electronic hand held game called "Catch Phrase" and a card game called "Pit". OMG! We had such fun!! We were all in fits of laughter.

Or maybe go glow bowling, or just bowling.  Or do lunch and a visit to the museum or art gallery.  Or go roller skating. Bet none of you have been on roller skates in decades!!!  hehe

Or you can go to a 24 hour Walmart and play hide and seek in the ladies wear department!  You might get some weird looks from clerks as you slouch amongst the clothing racks! But it's fun!  lol

It is fun to play hide & seek in Walmart...  until the over-zealous better than you supervisor informs you that filming isn't allowed. Sigh high school days lol

Catch phrase is a fun game.

Some friends and I get together every week or two, we used to go to a cafe or coffee shop and hang around for hours, but lately we've been meeting at my house. I usually put out fruit, cheese, and bread, and put a fire in the fireplace (it's always cold here by the water). Everybody brings something to eat and drink. If it's in the morning, we have coffee and tea, if it's in the afternoon we have wine. Sometimes our morning tea turns into afternoon wine. We do this on school days and talk about our kids a lot. Usually, we talk the entire time and catch up, gripe about anything bothering us, etc. and everybody offers suggestions and support. We have lots of laughs, too. Once in a while we'll all watch a movie together, mostly comedies that someone recommends as good, but usually the conversation takes up all the time.

Hope you have fun!

I don't know much about a day/night with the girls.  That said, a friend recently had a party for the "girls".  It was a pot luck luncheon with a theme and they all split the cost of a psychic.  They had a blast.

Some of my co-workers and I have gotten into the habit of going out to dinner. It's really a lot of fun. We'll choose a restaurant and we try to fit in everybody's likes and dislikes. Sometimes, after dinner, we'll all go to the movies, then to a coffee shop afterward to complain about the movie.

This summer, we're planning to get together at my place to spend the afternoon lounging by the pool and I'll prepare dinner on the grill for everybody. My co-worker also has a pool and she wants us all to go to her house and we'll spring for pizza and wings with margaritas.

There are six of us. Two of the women don't work with us anymore, but we've all gotten to be kind of close and they wouldn't miss a get together for anything.

We're thinking (just thinking, at this point) of all of us going away this fall for a shopping weekend. We're looking at B & Bs down around the Lancaster, PA area for the six of us and we'll stay two to a room. We'll leave Friday after work and spend the weekend shopping at the outlets. Then come back home on Sunday afternoon.  I hope we can work it out because it sounds like a lot of fun!

A woman from my mom's church had a "salad" party one time.  There were all different kinds of salads:  potato, pasta, garden, etc.  I always thought that was a neat idea.

Sorry I vanished from the thread - life's been crazy lately. Thanks for the suggestions! I think we should be able to put something fun together.
