Hi Everyone

So I would like to throw this out there, as it seems to be stress is a huge factor lately. I know with my medical background that stress can cause heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure & other things but can it cause fever?

It links, it does like every week or so I will spike a fever at night. Maybe it is something else, I dunno....... could it be psychosmatic somehow? Maybe im nuts.

I definitely don't think you are nuts. Its been proven that stress can lower you immune system and this time of year there are a lot of things going around. It could be that you caught a bug and your body can't fight it off. Do you feel ok other than the fever?

Physically yes- but the fever gives me chills & I have a tickly throat and tiny cough, Mentally - absolutely not. My life is one huge ball of stress right now, but we can suffice it to say the Bipolar & borderline are kind of kicking in full swing this week. I know I missed church sunday, and that makes a huge difference.. I think

Stress will lower your resistance, as you know. You may be harboring an infection. Many times a fever or illness gets worse at night. As a medical person, you've seen how many more people call an ambulance or go to an ER at night. I know we had runs all night and during the day-nothing. Your body temp naturally rises a bit to heal and recharge for the following day. An infection that is not noticeable during the day, will become obvious at night.

I'd see a doctor, just in case. If it's a slight fever and you've got stress-hit it before it hits you hard!!

Well its okay now, no fever or anything.

Ya- 3 Am was the key hour for disastrous illness! Well, i would get irritated when the ambulance would be called at 2 am or 3 am and when asked how long the person had this problem "2 weeks"....... ughhh- You waited until 2 am to take an ambulance out of service so you could get your meds refilled.!

Oh LORD! I can remember sometimes pulling up to someone's house at 5 am, they're waiting on the porch, with a SUITCASE!! Why, you may ask..because they have to be in at pre op testing at 7, and Lord knows we take our time getting there. Oh yeah, from first tone to front door is a HUGE wait of 10 minutes.

One woman called at 2-3 am at least once a week, and I felt bad for her, since she had cancer, BUT-she would always giggle in a weird way, and tell us that we should know that cancer is always worse at 2 am. Oh, and she'd call us for a ride home too! A cab would have been 5 bucks. We even went to get her sometimes since she was well, Ours, and we always felt like someone was ours if we treated them. Yes, just light the neon sucker sign on our heads and call it a day.

Learned a valuable lesson, and thinking back it is the reason for the fever...

Paramedic does not equal dentist. Access to lidocaine Rx , syringes, & Scalpel does not equal dentist.

That being said, I was so determined to "relieve" pressure on the wisdom tooth that is cutting in, i.e make a tiny tiny sterile slit in the gums to allow it to press through, to relieve pressure.... Obviously the only thing I have from it is a sore jaw & fever.......... :(

Soooooooo starting on a round of Cipro to kick the infection in the rear.

As opposed to a fee of $380 just to roll the box out of the bay. (Initial fee we charged for base rate), and of course- it would become more when you figure in supplies, time, and mileage. ya its astronomical, but unfortunately that is a reality of healthcare today.

I'm really hoping you made a dentist appointment for...yesterday???? God lord girl, even Dentists don't usually perform oral surgery on themselves!! At least you probably found the cause of it. Now, step AWAY from the SCALPEL.

The dentist is the one who called me in the Cipro. Prior xrays show the tooth is fine and coming in good so need for more intervention.

It depends on the persons healthcare plan here. Most times the bus ride is free for the patients, (Out here in the way east) in the city-you get picked up by a FDNY bus it's 250, and you WANT them-the private ambulances are 300-500 for a ride-not including supplies!

Have you ever had an EDP call and then the cops call you and tell you to stop coming. We had one guy that was waiting on the lawn with a rifle...the cops roll for every call so we lucked out that they got there first. We would have been in real trouble had we arrived 5 minutes earlier. It turned into a standoff that lasted a few hours. Apparently his wife was taken to the hospital, and he was left alone, she usually handled his meds, so he'd had none and he thought we'd kidnapped her. I felt bad for him, but jeez....

Girl, will you stop making me worry!! I actually understand if you're in pain and feel you can take care of it, but now you have an infection!! (I've taken care of things like that-lanced an abscess myself, but GAH-the pain!!) Oragel and dentist from now on!!
