For those of you who want to know more about the Caboodle Ranch story, please go to www.petside.com.

This is an e-newsletter that keeps its subscribers up-to-date on all things having to do with animals.

Unfortunately, there is a story about the severely abused cat from Florida, Dexter, who was put down because of violent seizures.  Dexter was a black and white tuxedo cat who was beaten by a mother in front of her two boys, aged 5 and 8.  Dexter's brother died, but Dexter has put up a good fight all this time.  However, due to increasing seizures, the decision was made to euthanize him.

There is also another story about a young man in Virginia who was convicted of animal cruelty after he threw his cat in a kennel where he was killed by three dogs.  The man got mad because the cat accidentally bit his finger, drawing blood.  He then put the cat's body on a woodpile, with the intent of throwing it back to the dogs.

And finally, a beautiful calico cat was run over last night about a block east of my church, which is on a very busy street.  I called animal control first thing this morning.  Either those folks came by and picked up the body, or the owner did.

Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news, but we have to be informed.

Some revisions to my original post:

Dexter was beaten with an aluminum baseball bat.  A child who witnessed the incident took Dexter home, and he was rushed to the vet.  The parents called the police on the woman who beat him, and she denied doing anything wrong.  The evidence suggests otherwise.

The cat who was hit by a car near my church last night was a tortoise shell, not a calico.
