I'm so incredibly excited.

For the first time since January 29th (when I got her) Treasure had a mostly solid poop in the litter box.

We've been fighting coccidia and then bad tummy bacteria.  So, earlier in the week we started on a crazy blended food and today it was mostly solid.  Maybe I won't have to wake up when she uses the box so I can check her feet to wash them.

The next round of sulfa antibiotics started today so she's going to be getting yogurt twice a day.  I suspect if I let her, she'd eat the whole carton rather than the amount blended in her food.

I'm so happy I could dance!

:woohoo:  Aw, that's great news!

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar. Is there a reason you're using yogurt rather than just an acidophilus probiotic? Our Chum had serious diarrhea when we rescued him (not coccidia or giardia - he's FIV+, and just had chronic diarrhea). His holistic vet had us put him on a human dose of probiotics - she told us just to go to the health food store and ask for the best acidophilus supplement. We buy the acidophilus + bifidus supplement, and he gets 2 caps a day (human dose) - each cap has 10 billion active cultures. Most cats just need a child's dose - 5 billion active cultures, but it is recommended to bump it to 10 billion when they're on antibiotics. Our vet also cautioned that when he was on antibiotics to give him the probiotic several hours after the antibiotics, otherwise the antibiotics will just kill the probiotic. :lol3:

Whatever the situation, :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: this works!

The yogurt started with the older of the two cats who is in Renal Failure.  The vet thought this would be a good way to get just a little bit more liquid in her.

And last night when she did her 4am job, and pounced me awake, I didn't have to wash any feet :D

 Awesome! I hope this lasts! Believe me, I know how you feel about racing to wipe feet & bum after the cat poops, and we are so glad not to have to do that anymore.
Yay for solid poops! :banana1:

Yay! I’m glad Treasure is feeling better. I’m curious what you are feeding her? My Sally had really bad digestion issues and I put her on a grain-free cat food with prebiotics in it called Alpha and it totally cleared up her diarrhea. Lots of natural pet food companies like Natural Balance make these kinds of foods that – from my experience – can really help a poor kitty with bad poops.

Her issue is the coccidia + the Albon (sulfa antibiotic) which causes huge poop issues.

We restarted Albon last week and I've had to up the pumpkin a bit along with extra yogurt (at various times during the day) because her stools were getting loose again. Not sure if it's the antibiotics or the coccidia or both. But she is stinky kitten right now with the gas which could be the coccidia, the antibiotics or the extra pumpkin.

I will be SO glad when I know she's clear of this dang thing.
