Hello everyone.

Been looking around for almost a month now with no luck.

I know my cat has a vaccination this month.

So I just got depressed and decided to ask for help.  Googled "Lost my cat's vaccination book" and found some REALLY surprising information about how vaccinations are killing the pets.  And that they should be stopped.

I'm thinking of not giving him any vaccination.  What do you advise?

Hmm, so you keep a vaccination book for your cats? That's a good idea. I just wait for the reminder from my vet each year; I know it's either October or November that they go in for their yearly.

As for whether or not to vaccinate, that really is a topic of some debate amongst pet owners. Seems to me, IMO, that there is a lot of anecdotal evidence against a lot of vaccinations including site-specific sarcomas. It scared me when we first got our cats and I did talk to our vet about it. I'm getting the impression that a lot of vets these days are leaning towards not giving "excessive" vaccinations, and not every year if they can get away with it. By excessive, I mean my vet only gives my cats certain ones because they do go outside and have come in contact with other cats. But if they were indoor only, then he wouldn't give it. I believe that's the FeLiv one I'm talking about- I need to look that up. Also, a lot of people only get rabies shots once every 2 or three years because studies have shown that the vaccine remains effective for a lot longer than originally thought.

Personally, I prefer my cats to get a rabies shot every year (and I keep the documentation) and I want to protect them against other possible infections if I can. I'm paranoid about having to prove they're healthy if we ever had to move country.

"Is it a sign"?  Maybe, but maybe not a sign you shouldn't get them vaccinated but one that you lose things!

I live in the UK so no mandatory rabies, but my cats stay in catteries from time to time so I have to keep their basic vaccinations up-to-date.  Not enough research has been done to lengthen the time between vaccinations, and in some ways it wouldn't be great as mine get a through health check at the same time - weight, eyes, teeth, ears, tummy felt, heart listened to.  My vet keeps a record of their weight.  They also get a wormer - Milbemax.  They are so much more cooperative with the vet popping it down their throats than with me doing it!

As they don't meet other cats they don't get FeLV, they do get FIE, FHV and FCV.

And yes, all the cats I've ever had have a vaccination record - a little booklet with spaces for the labels with the batch number of the vaccine(s) to be stuck on, for a signature and date from the vet, and possibly a surgery stamp.  It has to be produced at catteries, and if I showed them I would have to produce it at vetting in.

My first two cats might have got lost to vaccine-induced sarcomas, but they were also cats that had a very bad start in life (fleas, worms, mother fed on dog food) and were litter mates as well, so had a common genetic background as well as a common environmental one.  I have lost cats since then, but never to anything that could be pinned on vaccines.

I just had Hobo in yesterday for his Rabies shot. That is all I plan on giving from now on. The vet tried to get me to do his FVRCP shot, but I said no thank you.
