This is the third time that Kramer has had (I think) conjunctivitis within 6 months.

The first time, he had one weepy pink eye, and the conjunctivitis was confirmed by the vet, who gave me neopolydex drops. Those drops are still good, and his symptoms this time were exactly the same, so I just administered them again last week before we left for my trip and his weepy eye (same one) cleared right up again.

Now it seems he has the weepy eye again... I'm noticing a pattern here. The first case, it was right after a move. The second case was right after I had returned home from a trip away from them. The third time (now) is right after we returned from a trip home; the cats came with me, but Kramer hates the car and the dog at my mom's house.

Could his conjunctivitis be stress-induced feline herpes? I'm starting to really wonder now. He shows no other signs of herpes, like the sneezing or URI stuff. Only the weepy eye. The weepy eye stops when I give him the neopolydex for a few days, but if it gets worse I'll obviously take him to the vet again.

Also, wouldn't Boots have it too? He's never had any health problems aside from coccidia and fleas when he was feral.

Just wanted to get some feedback from those who deal with herpes.

I've had cats with herpes that didn't have conjunctivitis. I honestly don't know if one could trigger the other, but I do know that stress can trigger health issues, and a cat's immunity can be compromised when sick with one disease, triggering others. Kramer might be prone to conjunctivitis, and herpes could be lowering his immunity so that he gets it. This is just speculation on my part.

If you suspect herpes as a trigger, talk to your vet first and foremost, but also look into L-Lysine as a supplement to help fight off herpes. You can buy L-Lysine in powder form and put it in his water or sprinkle it on his food. The tablets are HUGE, and not easy to administer.

Poor baby!

Thank you.

I know conjunctivitis and herpes are related. I was just trying to see if anyone had a cat with that as their only symptom of herpes.

As the weepy eye has cleared up once again, I think I'll hold off on the vet trip and start giving l-lysine.
