Does anybody actually like Daylight Savings Time, or see a benefit from it?

Where is the "savings" of sunlight or time; the amount of daylight doesn't change no matter what we call it. It's tough enough to keep a regular sleep schedule without the government messing with it. I just don't get it.

I enjoy having the extra hour in the evenings, that way I don't have to rush out of work and pray there isn't traffic so I can get my dog to the dog park. With the extra hour I can relax a bit. I'm also more productive the longer there is daylight.

But how do you have an extra hour, or more daylight? There're about 12 hours of light between sunrise and sunset, for example, in Houston in March. How does shifting work hours change anything, either you have more light before work or after, but it's the same amount of daylight.

There is more daylight after one gets home from work.  That is the part I love.  I hate going to work when its dark and coming home when its dark.

I don't see the point of it at all.  I remember when I didn't know what it was, I asked someone.  "All the clocks move ahead an hour" they said, to which I replied "uh huh............why?".  It's completely useless IMO.

I LOVE daylight savings time. I think it should always be daylight savings time. I get up early enough where it's dark whether its DLT or not. I like getting home from work and even when I have to stop at the store being able to sit outside for awhile before I start dinner.

Ugh, I had to wake up at 7 to make a 5 hour drive this morning, and I completely forgot about daylight's savings until right before I fell asleep. So in reality I had to wake up at 6. I'm not a pleasant morning person, either!!

It is going to be a benefit to me. It will not be dark when I have to walk home from the bus stop. I have had to wear a reflective vest lately so cars can see me.

I picked the worst day to have an early flight, not even realizing it was DST!!

So I had a 7am flight, and had to be up around 4:30-5am ... which was really 3:30-4am, noooo! :(

:lol3:

Congress moved back the date of the change a few years ago, and said that if research didn't show it saving anything, they would move it back.  The research came in, showing it actually cost more money, but it hasn't been moved.  I don't mind the old date in April, but early March is too early!!!

I didn't mind DST....before I had a kid!!  Fortunately because I'm a stay at home Mom; my DD is able to be on a schedule that has her up at a "decent" hour, not 5 and 6 like some of my friend's kids.  It's awful for them when the time changes and your kid gives you 4 am wakeups!!!  No thank you!!  But it still messes with our nap and bedtime schedule.

But because I'm more of a night person; I do enjoy the "extra" daylight in the evenings right now.  I prefer to never wake before the sun rises.  My Mom and step-dad always joked I'd do well on a night shift job.

I LOVE daylight savings time and I live for when it comes around. I love it in the summer, getting home from work at 6:00 or later it gives me time to tend the garden, play with the barn cats, make dinner while DH mows the grass before it gets dark. Plus, I hate driving in the dark and HATE December and January when its dark at 5:30 when I leave work. I can handle getting up in the dark, I just don't like coming home in the dark.

Most of us love the longer daylight as we head out of winter into spring, but that doesn't really have much to do with changing the time. Sounds like some people get out of work an hour earlier because of the change, and I can see that being a plus. In the winter here, you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.

I don't care which way they have it, just stop changing it. I want to move to Arizona.

I remember hearing about that, probably costs "millions of dollars" to implement or something.

I don't mind it at all. I love having the longer days and short nights. I'm outside all the time, working in the yard and the gardens. I'd rather we had Savings Time instead of Standard Time and see no need to change at all.

As for the loss of an hour, well, it's just an hour (although an hour can be quite a bit for some people). My sleep patterns are so screwed up, thanks to the cats awakening me at 3:30 every morning that I don't notice one more hour. So for me it's not a biggie.

I get p.o.'d in the spring when they change it. I'm a morning person, and I love getting out to run before the crowds, so it was just getting to be light early enough for me, now it's dark again. :( I'd rather have light earlier in the day than light later in the day.

Well I successfully managed to make myself late because of it. I didn't work yesterday so I didn't set my alarm forward, and when I was going to bed really late had forgot I still needed to change it. Well when I woke up an hour late I had already missed my appointment at the spay clinic. I guess I will be going back tomorrow on time instead.

I hate daylight savings time and don't see the point of it. Of course I like it lighter in the evenings, but it's going to get that way anyway as the season changes. If you live in a 4 season climate, you have to accept the darkness in the evenings as a part of life. I don't get why we still do DST, really who benefits?
