Hi Everyone,
I posted Sadie's story a few days ago (in a nutshell: feeding feral outside for past 8 months, would come when called but wouldn't get too close. Kitty was attacked by something about 12 days ago, I got him live trapped and vetted and tail amputated) Sadie was previously TNR'd and is a sweet fella.
He has a clean bill of health.
Over the past 8 days I have had him in 2 xlarge dog kennels in my basement and spending lots of time with him. He will eat in front of me and has bent to sniff me/my hands several times and LOVES the attention of my 2 spayed/female adult cats.
I feel SO sad for him being in the basement/cellar all alone. I can hear him from upstairs meowing away.
Tonight I completely cleared out my upstairs bathroom and was thinking of continuing socialization upstairs with him free to roam the bathroom.
I was hoping I could get some advice as to whether it was a good idea to do this or to keep him in the kennels downstairs?
A little bit about my home.... Me (Adult Female lol), my 5 year old daughter Cassidy, my 2 adult spayed female kitties, and 1 female spayed
Belgian Malinois 100 pound Shepherd. I know I know, the poor kitty is going to be capital T Terrified. My Shepherd absolutely loves my cats and vice versa and enjoys gently herding them all day (being a herding dog). The cats don't seem to care, I think they love flirting with the attention.
I also have a large marine fish tank and I know Sadie loves this because many times I have seen him sitting on my back deck watching them through the sliding glass door.
Tomorrow my 5 year old goes to her Dad's house for 4 days and I was thinking this would be the perfect time to bring him up - while she is gone.
To bring him upstairs I was thinking I would try putting a cat carrier into the kennel and try to get him to go in there. Then I can get his stuff from the kennel and bring it upstairs to prepare the bathroom with his scent and litter and then put the carrier in the bathroom and let him venture out on his own.
The bathroom also has a window which overlooks his backyard and shelter house - this could make him sad or enjoy watching the birds and squirrels at the feeder - which he always loved doing from his shelter porch.
I want him upstairs so bad - but what do ya'll think??
