Hi all,  I'm just looking for some advise & opinions. angel is a herpes kitty. He is generally pretty healthy except for his "third eyes" showing up every few months or so. ( I have also used the lysine (250 mg. 2xs/day)  in his food for over 2yrs now, sense the vet told me about it.)  We usually use the Neo Poly drops & they work great, however, the last time we used them, they didn't work very well.

After a trip to the vet about that, she gave us something new to try instead. It was an antiviral eye drop that I had to keep in the 'fridge.

The name of it was Idoxuridine. I thought "great, antiviral, this should work better." NOT!  It didn't work at all, so we went back to the Neo Poly. Poor guy, weeks on eye drops.   So, which brings me to why I'm here, We just finished a 10 day round ( i've learned that he has to go the full 10 days vs/ 7) of the N.P drops last week & they still don't look any better. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know if there are any other drops that may work, that I can ask the vet about?  -Another thought is allergies, the pollen has started being visible for the season here in NC.  What about the Similasan Homeopathic allergy eye drops?  I posted a couple of pictures from a couple of days ago, so you can see. ( the left is usually the worst one).

Thanks!

Kelly

I do know that some folks here use 500 mg twice daily when their babies are having herpes flair-ups, then go back to 250/twice a day maintenance.  BUT, I also know that it's allergy season out there, at least when I spoke to my Vet last week on something else, she mentioned she was seeing all kinds of allergy symptoms right now.

Sorry, I don't see anything in the pix except one good looking cat

On yes, am I reading this right?  Is the N.P. the L-lysine?  I'm confused (but I usually am!)  I thought L-Lysine was given in their food, not as eye-drops!  And thought it was something you could just buy at the health food store.

"Thanks, I think he's hansom too."
Yes, I thought you could do 500mg. of the lysine 2xs/day, but wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming that for me!  Sorry it took me so long to get back, my computer decided to act up Sat. after I posted this, so haven't been able to get back till now @ wk. Hopefully a friend will be able to fix it tomorrow!  Yea, the lysine in the food, the N.P. was for the Neo Poly eye drops. lol.   I have been putting the 500mg. in his food sense Sat.  I may still have to go get more eye drops though as well. Will see how he does through the nxt few days. Thanks for responding!
