CONGRATULATIONS, Ruthy.
I have just read through this thread and found this thread because of Carolina!!! She has been helping us find the right e-cig. My hubby, Larry and I, have been smoking on and off for many, many years. We are VERY light smoker's though. Maybe one or two at night. Sometimes we can go for days without one
Weekends are more. It would be fairly easy to give it up all together, except during times of stress - that is when I blow it. But, we want to totally give up the habit once and for all. And thought that maybe the e-cig might be a way to get to that goal of eventually not even - vaping. First we have to try it. We just started this quest and appreciate the information in your thread. I guess soon we will be part of the "vaper" club too.
Will let you know what we end up buying.

I am sure you will love it as much as I do, i couldn't go back to normal cigs now, no way.x

If we get enough vapers, we'll have to start a social group. :lol3:

No way will I give up vaping, even if it's banned here, as the Green Party would like. I've actually come to look on it as a hobby, since I do my own atomizers and liquid.

I just don't get it yet :flail: The atomizers, the vaper's, the batteries, the juices, the stardust, the flavors (especially the cake flavor )..... A whole new world of vaping..... WOW I had NO idea. The reason I even got started on the idea of trying an e-cig was because of my daughter. She came over for dinner last weekend. She had a cheapo from Walgreens. The $10.00 e-cig.... BLU ???? It lasts for two packs she told me. She HAS to quit - smokes too much and just can't afford it - (thank goodness - I want her to quit). Anyway, I tried a "vape" :dk: off of hers. It made me cough at first. You only need a tiny puff. But I liked it and if it gets me and hubby away from cigs for good - then I am all for this. Will be ordering our kit's this weekend :D :clap::clap::clap:

Uh, oh, are you another one drooling over the Provari? The new Lavatube (1.5 version) has all the same features, but is cheaper. So's the quality, though. A lot of people have reported problems using dual coil cartomizers or tanks on both the Provari and Lava Tube. They get error messages on the former, and the latter reduces the voltage. It doesn't happen with all brands, apparently.

:flail: yeah........ :flail: I drool big time :yummy: over the Provari :lol3: I SO want one :D
Refresh my memory jcat, what do you use? I know you use your own tanks..... but do you have a mod? What is your current hardware set up?
I found this comparison in between the Provari and the Lavatube..... I think I still like the Provari better  http://www.stevevape.com/e-cigarette-comparison-review-lavatube-vs-provari-advanced-e-cigarettes/

Oh, this is the stardust - which I am currently using with my e-go T batteries..... work like a DREAM - pretty much the same as dripping less the trouble.....

I use three types of repairable atomizer, the Bulli A2 Classic (1x), Bulli A2 Mega Tank (3x) and Genesis Liquid Vial (1x), and have three different mods for at home: the Lava Tube Variable Voltage, the Bulli Extreme (strictly mechanical) and the King Kong Kamikaze (a regulated Joye mod). I have the old Screwdriver in reserve, too. When I'm out I still use the Ego 900 or 1000 batteries, but I'm thinking about getting a smaller mod, either a Lava Tube Mini, Provari Mini or Bulli Elite. I like the Genisis LV best on the Extreme, so I'm leaning towards the Elite. I don't think the Lava Tube is going to hold up, and getting a Provari repaired would be a pain because of the shipping costs, distance and possible problems with customs. It's also quite heavy (as is the Extreme in stainless steel). Anything electronic is bound to eventually develop problems, and there's still a possibility of a German or EU-wide ban.

Whoa! you guys have some good stuff we don't over there!
I just saw a video in some weird language about the King Kong - didn't understand a word :spit: That thing is huge :thud:
How come we don't have that in the US? So, what's the deal with it? The voltage? Does it last longer? What makes it better? Is the Bulli variable like the Provari? I could just see a picture, but not see any details, as everything I found was in German....

Many of the early mods and repairable atomizers were developed in the EU and have become "commercial" since then, like the Screwdriver (UK) or Genesis (Germany). There are some really interesting ones coming out of Russia these days, too. Cetin (Bulli mods and atomizers) and Imeo (the Golden Greek stuff) still make their own, so you get great handcrafted quality, but the prices are pretty high. They're in the "Provari class".

The video of the King Kong you saw was probably in Polish; I've only seen it offered by Polish suppliers, but it may be sold elsewhere under another name, as it's a Joyetech product. It's got pretty much the same electronics as an Ego battery, but takes an 18650 rechargeable battery (protected or unprotected) and therefore lasts all day and then some. It's basically a fat Ego mod that's regulated like the Ego, made of lightweight aluminium and smaller than the Lava Tube. The e-Power Replaceable Battery Ego Kit is similar, but takes a smaller (14650) battery. I like the mods (and repairable atties) because you don't produce a lot of refuse like you do with the disposable stuff, and they're much cheaper in the long run (especially if you order your rechargeable batteries directly from Hong Kong).

The Bulli mods aren't variable voltage or regulated, though he did have a limited edition regulated and/or VV a year or so ago. He's just announced that he's going to stick with the mechanical mods because they're more reliable. Those of us facing a ban keep that in mind when deciding what to buy. I love my Extreme in stainless steel with a recessed "Vandal" switch and on-off cap. It's beautifully constructed, but too big and heavy to carry around all day. The VV mods are actually a bit of a waste if you use repairable atties, because you can adjust the heating coil/resistance to suit the mod with just a little bit of practice. I've had a lot of luck making consistent coils with both the A2s and Genesis, so I probably shouldn't have even bothered getting a Lava Tube. The Bulli site, including the English version, is down for the month, because Cetin is in the process of moving and also wants some vacation time. His stock tends to sell out within a couple of hours of his listing it, so I can't say I blame him.

I'll have to take some photos of my hardware and post them.

The Stardust looks interesting, but I've never liked the cartomizers' hotter vapor, and love the 2 ml tanks because you rarely have to refill them. There are some 5 ml tanks nowadays, but they haven't gotten great reviews and would be too big for my taste.

Don't mind the blue ring in the last picture. It really is a stone ring I slipped on there to protect the connection, but it's not wide enough, so I'm going to pick up another, thinner one and use both when using the Genisis on the Extreme. The cones for the A2 are too long for that combination, so I improvised.

I use the A2-TM on the 1000 Ego battery when I'm out (the one on the right in the last photo) - the others are for at home. My very first mod, a Screwdriver, was bigger than that, and one day I was walking home from the train station, vaping away, and got stopped by two cops, one asking, "What do you have there?" I figured they thought I was doing drugs, so started explaining how the atomizer, mod, etc., worked, and he told me he knew, he vaped, too, and just wanted to know where I'd gotten my mod! His partner thought it was pretty funny.

My thoughts exactly! I was having flash backs to the 80's! I quit after 20 years of smoking 6 years ago, without any replacement. I guess thats like walking through a foot of snow, 5 miles to school every day!

My fiance and I bought a pair of electronic cigarettes as well in order to attempt to quit smoking.

So far...  We've cut back a lot on regular cigarettes which is actually surprising.

The E-cigs take a lot to get used to but in the end it's definitely better for you than smoking that gunky real cigarette.  :D  Congratulations on your desire to quit and good luck to us and everyone else who is trying the e-cig method.

A lot of people find their cigarette consumption tapers off automatically when they're using an e-cig, especially if they're using the right concentration of liquid, usually high or extra-high to begin with. Normally they can switch to medium or low over time. The hardest thing is finding the right "juice", which is a matter of personal taste.

:yeah:
Totally  In my experience, the hardware played a huge role as well.....The stuff that came with my kit just made me SO frustrated, I wanted to buy a pack of cigarettes and give up on it entirely. It leaked all over the place, most of the times in my mouth, and that was when it worked. But..... still, when it worked, It was much better than cigarettes.... Luckily I was part of ECF and through reading reviews and discussing with other users, I was able to order the right things to make it work
In there, I also got to know the juice vendors..... and while it is a personal choice, I always end up going to the better rated vendors within ECF....

And you are so right - It is SO important to get stronger juices to start off with it  People tend to think that if they smoke light cigarettes, they will do fine with light juices..... well, not so. One light cigarette for example say Camel lights, has 11mg of Nicotine per cigarette, which you smoke in minutes. A high strength juice, 18mg, has 18mg of nicotine per ml. You take hours vaping to vape 1ml.
Plus, because e-juice doesn't have tar, it doesn't stick to your lungs, the nicotine is only absorbed on your mouth - you absorb much less nicotine per drag when you are vaping, then when you are smoking.
That's why sometimes people has the impression that you are vaping more than you were smoking...... Maybe so.... but you are getting less nicotine than before.

One thing I did when I started vaping was, every time I was craving a cigarette, I would vape vape vape before reaching to that cigarette - the crave would go away. Always. My cravings were stronger in the morning, so I made sure to drink plenty of water, eat something, and vape vape vape.

Today I don't crave cigarettes, I think the taste is absolutely nasty - so is the smell.... I do crave vaping.... And when I do, well.... I vape :lol3:

I thought that it would be better than smoking regular cigs, they say it is an alternative but just not full of chemicals, tar and rubbish. I find it ok but I am still finding it really hard not to have a cigarette, I am having major cravings. My last cigarette was yesterday morning and I am trying not to use the electronic one too much. I can't believe how tough I am finding it though. I have felt really sick today, I think that your body aswell as nicotine craves al the nasty stuff in cigarettes.x
In relation to smoking real addiction - all people are different.

I totally admire you and people like you who make it a brake from this bad habit.

I could not.  I tired to use all sorts of help - none worked, including the ones doctors prescribed.

There was time when I gave up smoking for about three days.  I didn't suffer cravings at all.   What happened is the stuff I can not explain (I started seeing everything being fractured and fragmented, like the whole world falls apart).  This was something in my brain I think.

That's when I realized that mine was a real addiction to nicotine, not just a bad habit.  I had to DELIBERATELY pick up a cigarette again and start smoking even that I didn't crave it, just to stop the side effects of this withdrawal.  It was terrible for me.  I know - I could have put up with it and see what would happen, and perhaps it would pass, but at that time I had to work and function, and I could not without nicotine.

There is only one thing that helps me smoke less - that is my cats and my hubby.  None of them smoke (LOL!).

So with me being only a smoker in the house - I have only two smoking spots in the house where smoke does not affect others and goes right out of the house.  The rest of the house is a non-smoking area determined by me (which my smoking sister has difficulties with when she visits).  But well....  we mainly smoke outside on the veranda.  And if she smokes inside in one of my smoking spots - I don't smoke.

Because one cigarette is one thing, but two of them is another for my house - I'm paranoid about this.

Some years ago I had bad bronchitis caused by a bad flu and when I did x-rays through my GP - they came out totally unexpected.  Doctor said that if I give up smoking - I'd cause more damage to myself by stress, because my lungs proved to be as clear as those of a newborn baby, and he advised me to change the brand of ciggs I smoked.   Hmmmmm.....

Anyways, I changed a brand and also I now use filters called (targo) sold in here very cheap.  They catch most of the tar, but I still have my much needed nicotine.

Nadia, do you have e-cigarettes in there? Can you buy from overseas, or you have a ban against that too?

Well, no.

There are none around, I don't even know what they are, but from this thread they sound wonderful.

I can not buy anything through internet as you know.  We are a sanctioned country.

But okay.  I'm not really worried about my health, I'm amazingly healthy for my age.

I just so admire people who are strong enough to break from the bad habits...

Smoking - the smell from the mouth is very bad as any former smoker and current smoker knows.  It's disgusting.  I breathe out and in,.. and hold my breath when I kiss my kitties and my hubby, so that they are not disgusted with me.  (Believe it or not - washing my mouth with silver water gets rid of most of the smell, LOL!).

Perhaps I have an immunity to bad smoke as such - I was born and grew up in an industrial town in Russia, where you can't dry your washing outside without it being all blacked out by pollution.  You could basically see the air in there.
