As most of you know, I have one indoor kitty, Kairi. I also feed a BIIIG black boy, named Fernamdo, who has adopted me, my kids, and my porch as his home. He's really a nice boy, and I adore him.

Well, this morning I had to run a few errands, and I came home, only to see a WHITE cat on my porch. (Ohhh pretty!) so I walked up quietly, making the spspspspsps noice, and kissy sounds, so the kitty wouldn;t be afraid. He-she didn't turn around and just kept eating Fernando's food (Which he was graciously sharing) and when my foot stepped on the first step of my porch, the cat turned and pretty much jumped 3 feet in the air, and went flying over the porch rail to run away. I'm wondering if perhaps he's deaf. He's got the bluest eyes I've ever seen, and he's solid white (ok, like grey since he's filthy). I felt so BAD for scaring him, and I hope he comes back! My neighbor said he's seen the cat before, on my lawn, but he's not a cat person, so he just figured I was becoming a crazy cat lady. (I wish I could...lol)

Do you think it's possible he is deaf since he didn't hear me at all until he felt my foot on the wood step...

Yes, so is my first though.

dont worry, this is surely not first time he scared run away.  As Fernando was accepting him and there is a source of food, it is very probable he will return.

I understand it is OK for you to have TWO outside kitties? One black, one white?

No colour prejudices here?  :)

No color issues here! Lol! Kairi is a grey brown and black tabby so we're a melting pot of kitty colors. I do hope he comes back. He's so scared looking I just want him to eat and feel comfortable doing so. Fernando is quite good natured about sharing since I always make sure he's never got an empty bowl or unclean water.
Thanks!

Oh YES - somehow the cat's DO know where the "crazies" live :flail: and we always seem to find new cat's out in the yard to care for and feed  WOW this cat sounds beautiful. Very possibly deaf. I wonder if this IS a neighbor's cat who is out and about but odd that you have never seen it before. I guess you will see in the next few day's if this beauty stick's around. Maybe friendly :dk: Who knows..... Keep us posted :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

When I was young I got a white kitty with one green eye and one blue.  The vet told me she was lucky because white cats with both blue eyes are most often deaf.  I have seen a couple of other white cats with blue eyes throughout my life that were indeed both deaf.  I never really researched it-but it seems to hold true.

Yes, this is one gorgeous cat. He's been back once, but saw my truck pull into the driveway, and beelined out of there. Fernando just looked at me as if to say "OY, he was eating and you had to pull that clunker in here!"

He doesn't belong to any of my neighbors that I know of-I asked a few people if they knew who owned him, and everyone said they didn't think anyone did. My friend, Margaret, who has 7, (Fernando used to be hers, but he likes us better now) said, she wished she had a white cat, but all of hers are black, or grey tabby. He's really raggedy looking-his fur is SO dirty. He's a long hair, with the tufts like a Turkish. Simply gorgeous.

I wish I could make him trust me, but I think the best thing at this point is to just feed him, and put out a bed for him, away from a traffic zone. My porch is going to look like a camping area for cats. LOL!!! I love having the cats around, since I am limited to one indoor cat-this is a way to have more cats, make sure they are cared for, and do my part for the ferals and strays. I may try to trap this guy, in a few weeks or months, just to have him vetted, and make sure he's spayed or neutered, and perhaps a little bath, and flea and tick treatment would help too-we have deer ticks everywhere here!

He looks so cuddly and pretty with all that fur! I think if he could hear me, soothing sounds would help him trust me quicker. Ahh well, he's the salt to Fernando's pepper, and Fernando seems to like him. Fernando is SUCH a good boy.

Well.... :D. Welcome to the life of a Feral/Stray Caretaker . Fernando sounds just so sweet. Is he neutered? I would not wait too long to get this new cat trapped and TNRd. That would be best because this kitty is making babies :shame:. AND I think your front porch must be lovely :lol3: with all the cute kitty items. Your doing a wonderful thing for the strays :heart2: Great job :clap::clap::clap: Good luck with trapping the newbie, sound gorgeous too  :vibes:

We feed a passel of kitties outside as well as my 3 indoor cats.  It's expensive, but they come to depend on you and the satisfying feeling of doing something great and connecting with them is overwhelming sometimes.

Yes-in conjunction with our animal rescue teams-which we support-all but the mama who is pregnant now have been fixed.  :-)

Yes, Fernando is neutered. He's going to have his vaccinations next month. (I got his records from his old mama) here's a picture of him:

I'm trying to get a picture of Señor Blanco, but so far he won't come close for long enough...

Try googling to see if there is a rescue that could help with the neutering fees..or a low cost clinic. You MUST trap and get them neutered

There are sticky treads both here in this Ferale forum, and the Health forum, with low cost clinics.  Of course, it helps if you are in the USA, in other countries we dont know as much.

We have a rescue around here that would help with fees for the white guy. Fernando IS neutered.

He is gorgeous, isn't he? This is how I know when he misses me or his bowl is empty....

I haven't seen Señor Blanco in couple of days, but I haven't been around so much. I'm keeping my eyes peeled and the rescue around the corner is going to loan me a trap when they get it back.
