The news of Fran’s death has saddened us all. Fran touched so many of us and quite a few members have asked about making donations in her memory. We do have a few suggestions if you wish to honor Fran's memory.
The Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA)
Since we grew to know Fran through our shared love of cats some of you may prefer to donate to a local cat shelter in her name.
The Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA) is a no-kill, non-profit, registered charity dedicated to the rescue of cats in the Lower Mainland. They also coordinate rescue work with other groups in British Columbia.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to Christ Church Cathedral or to the Vancouver School of Theology to fund the Fran D. Whitfield Award in Music and Community Life.

Fran was an active member of the Christ Church Cathedral Choir, and traveled to Mexico with them in 2006.

Fran D. Whitfield Award in Music and Community Life.
Vancouver School of Theology would like to honour Fran’s 30 years of service to VST with the
setting up of a Year End Student Award in her name: The Fran D. Whitfield Award in Music and
Community Life. The award will be given each year to a student who has enriched the community
life of the school—especially through the sharing of their musical gifts, for example, through worship
leadership.
