Any suggestions? We're going to get a new battery. This was our last 9V, and I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the battery. But we'll make sure before I order a new scale.

We've been using an American Weigh Scales (AWS) AMW 500i, a compact bench scale. It only weighs up to about 17-18 ounces (500 grams), but it weighs accurately down to 0.1 gram, which we need for some of Gary's meds (which is originally why we bought the scale).

What are you using for kitchen scales?

Time for a new scale - huh ??!!!! :D I just purchased the Taylor 3938 digital glass Scale - it does weigh in pounds, ounces and grams... it has been great for weighing the servings for the cats. I bought it at Target and it has been great to have on-hand for raw feeding - as you know - a must have :lol3: Very easy to clean as well and keep disinfected. http://www.taylorusa.com/kitchen/food-scales/digital-glass-kitchen-scale-2.html It was about $35.00 at Target. I don't use it everyday though... but when I do - it has worked very well in giving me the exact ounces of the meats. ;)

This is the one I have - It is GREAT - Eat Smart Precision Pro Kitchen Scale
It is very easy to use, and it never fails.... The only thing you need to do, is to replace batteries from time to time - Great deal at $25 and free shipping too..... It weighs in all types of measurements, ounces/lbs/grams/kgs, has a tare button, of course, easy to wipe it off, and just what you need for this type of stuff - I love it :bigthumb:

Look at this one I found for under $18 that measures at 0.1g: Kitchen and medicine scale

Lauren, I love that scale! It doesn't measure small enough for Gary's meds though.

And Carolina - thanks! If it turns out we do need a new one, that's the same thing, just smaller, that we currently have. This is the one we currently have - though it cost more when we bought it back in 2006. :lol3:

GARY GOT IT WORKING!!! :woohoo:

The only thing I don't like about the scale is that it doesn't weigh more than a pound at a time. Everything from HT comes in one, two, or five pound packages, and it seems that often they're a little light. Not that I can do much about it.... I don't have an alternate source anyway. :lol3:

As we say in Brazil.... what the eyes don't see, the heart doesn't feel :flail:
Who cares if the packages are a few ounces light? :dk: Are they fresh, yummy and making the kitties happy? Auntie Carolina says don't make yourself crazy and go to town momma :bigthumb:

 YAY for Gary :happy3: I wonder if he did what Larry does.... give it a good whack :lol2:. Let's hope it stays working. I do the same thing :lol3:, weigh the packages just out of curiosity. You might want to get a new scale anyway - to ease you mind that you are getting what you are paying for :flail: BUT I would take Carolina's advice - don't make yourself crazy  over it :D :lol2:

I ordered mine yesterday, along with those darling little measuring spoons
.  Forgot which scale, but this it measures from 1 gram up to 12 lbs.  Figured that should be plenty!!

Sally, I'm sure it will be! We needed 1/10ths of grams for Gary's meds, NOT for kitty food! :lol3:
