So, anyone who's been around TCS knows how cats seem to find me, right?
Mostly happens when a new cat wanders into my feral colony. This time, for the first time in several years, it happened when very sweet, neutered, declawed, flame point Siamese mix (blue eyes and all) wandered into my yard a few days ago, very hungry and wouldn't leave. I don't normally just grab otherwise healthy looking cats that I come across without first trying a safety collar with a note attached, but with this guy being declawed, no way was he staying outside. First thing was checking him for a microchip. None. I have also alerted my vet's office (where most people around here take their pets), posted "found" posters and put ads on Craigslist, our neighborhood FB page and in the newspaper. No response so far. Have been checking for "lost" ads and posters. For now, he's at the rescue while we make every effort possible to find his owners. If anyone calls, they'll be required to provide proof of ownership, such as a photo or vet records. They also better have a darned good reason why a declawed cat was outside (although I do understand accidents happen) Please send vibes that if this guy's owner is out there, we can reunite them. If not, he'll go up for adoption, and, I suspect, get snatched up pretty quickly. Will post pictures when I get some good ones. He's unnamed for now, but if no one claims him, will need one beginning with "X" (we name them alphabetically as they come into the rescue. Any suggestions?

One idea with X-names is not only names beginning on X, but also CONTAINING x.  As it is very unusual to spell it with x, it would be sooner a spelling. feks  dysleksia instead of dyslexia - you see the point.

Xavery, Xavier, Xaviera,

Xerox, Xeroxia

Xantippa, Xantippos

Saxian, Saxiana, Saxonia

Saxe, Faxe, Tax Vax

Max  Maximilian, Maxim, Maxima, Maximiliana

Alexander, Alexandra, Alexis,      (Sacha or Sascha for everyday use  !   )

Thanks for the name suggestions so far. I love Xander, but I'll always associate that name with a big, sweet, fluffy gray fellow I rescued a few years ago who was adopted by a TCS member. Xander doesn't seem to suit this guy. Xavier's also out because we just had a cat by that name adopted in Dec. I wish names just containing the letter x counted, but because of the new system in place at the rescue, his name actually has to start with the letter. The favorites among the volunteers so far seem to be Xerxes and Xathos.

My goodness, Eileen - yes, kitties certainly do find their way to you somehow. That is a very lucky boy and I am sure someone's lost pet :sigh: I DO hope the owner can be found and has a very good reason why this kitty was loose. :cross: Otherwise, I do think he will get adopted quickly  He sounds very loving. :heart3: :vibes::vibes::vibes:

I love the name Xion - meaning from the guarded land :bigthumb:...

Since Xerxes was the name of the king, and this boy sounds pretty regal, I would think that would fit!

I let our vet tech decide and she named him Xanthos (of greek origin meaning "golden haired"). She thinks he's pretty young - less than two years old. Still nobody looking for him. I'm going to alert a few more area vet's offices about him today. Will post a picture later. Finally got one decent one.

Thanks for all the name suggestions. Now we have a list started for when the letter "X" comes around again.

It's been just over a week now since Xanthos wandered into my yard. I've only had one call in response to the fliers and "found" ads from a gentleman whose two cats went missing in Nov. from a couple of blocks away after he lost his home to foreclosure. Xanthos isn't his. I've also checked with several area vets in addition to my own, along with our country shelter, and no one has reported a cat of his description missing. Really beginning to think he was just abandoned. We'll give it a little more time, obviously, but I suspect no one will claim him. I have a meeting at the rescue tonight so am looking forward to visiting with him.

It's been just over two weeks now since Xanthos wandered into my yard. No one has come forward to claim him or seems to be missing him, so we're operating under the assumption that he was abandoned and will now get him ready to up for adoption. Knowing nothing about his background, we'll need to get him tested, update his shots and microchip him. Since he's a such a sweet, handsome guy and is already declawed (only one of three declawed cats we have right), suspect he'll get adopted quickly. Xanthos is doing well at the rescue - loving all the attention and being very vocal about getting it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Xanthos was adopted today into a wonderful family. They recently loss their flame point Siamese after 16 years and drove an hour to meet sweet Xanthos. Figured it wouldn't take long for this guy to get adopted as sweet and handsome as he is. There's also a possibility that the family will soon adopt a kitty friend for Xanthos. They fell in love with a very affectionate young buff-colored boy just rescued a couple of weeks ago after wandering into one of our feral colonies. He'll be ready for adoption after his distemper booster. So glad for a happy ending for sweet Xanthos!
