Well we bit the bullet and replaces the Fiesta with a new Fiesta ST, the gear box was starting to go in the old one and we looked at either replacing the gearbox or replacing the car, Blaine has always wanted an ST since they came out and working for Ford gets a really good deal on cars he decided to change.... it actually works out cheaper insurance wise and finance wise each month so thats a plus but being a sporty number she will cost a bit more in fuel but that's not so bad so with out further ado meet Suzie the ST :)

Nice to meet Suzie --- she's really pretty!   Congratulations - and I'm glad to see there are other people who name their cars!

I had a brand new, red Fiesta once.  That was 1978, when they were first imported into the US!

WOW  THAT is a really cool, little smart looking car :clap::clap: Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! Reminds me - back in 1980.... I drove a little bright yellow Ford Fiesta. I loved that little cat - until I totaled it :anon: :shame: :sniffle: Then it was no more. Not my fault either - a semi truck's fault. I was fine and that little yellow Ford Fiesta somehow saved my life :heart3:

Thanks everyone!

We just love her soooo much its fantastic! Rather quick but at nearly 150bhp standard or should be, Blaine is scouting out parts to make it go even faster :D

I know that "tuner chips" are big in the import and diesel pickup crowd, but I have a question to ponder.

American manufacturers have used most of their technological advances to improve horsepower, rather than economy.  For example, my Malibu was a 2.4 L 4 cylinder engine that produces something over 150 hp and gets 24 mpg around town and 32 or so on the hightway.  The '78 Fiesta I mentioned had a 1.6 L 4 with about 68 hp and got about 35 mpg.  After the Fiesta, we had a Pontiac Phoenix with a 2.4 L 4 and about 90 hp, about 30 mpg.

So, who thinks that "economy chips" might be the next big thing?  I figure you could detune my Malibu to 125 hp and probably approach 40 mpg.  Do you think that sort of thing is coming, with the price of gas going up?

By the way, before we bought the 2011 Malibu, we looked at the Fiesta, but we couldn't get a dealer who acted like he wanted to make a deal.  I espcially like the very bright gold metallic Fiesta.

It is getting chipped getting a bluefin chip http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/search?make=9&fueltype=1&model=1&variant=1  which will give it another 10bhp taking it to 160 and theres a few other things to "make it go faster" eventually wanting to super charge it and then possibly taking to over 300brake, its do able but costly, theres mountune packages we could get fitted but we dont know quite which way to go yet.

Fuel prices here are £1.37 a litre and more than likely going up at the end of the month because im pretty sure the budgets getting done
so an eco-chip would be so much better....we think on a long run i.e motorway driving it might get to 40mpg but round the doors its getting between 25-30mpg but pushing it it goes down to about 19mpg and once were done with it and he puts it on track to race we will be looking at 9mpg
