I do use them. I try to clip only what I can use. I'm much less brand specific than I was before I started using coupons. I do find I save money every week that way though. I get some online but most come from the Sunday paper. I will stock up on something if I know I'll need it and the coupon expires soon; but I am by no means an "extreme" couponer. I find people who shelf clear to be very selfish.
I use coupons as often as I can. I've learned not to be very brand-loyal anymore....it doesn't pay. So, for the most part, I use the brand that's on sale and that I have a coupon to be used with the sale. The only items Rick will not change is Crest toothpaste, Listerine mouthwash, and Heinz ketchup. Other than that, he's OK with different brands. We've even started experimenting with some store brands, too.
There are some items we just don't buy. For example, Rick refuses to use any kind of pasta sauce. He likes mine and I always have some in the freezer. I have tried jarred sauces in the past and he doesn't like them....that's just the way it is. He won't try them no matter how many coupons we have or how cheap they are. Other than Oreo cookies and sometimes Pepperidge Farm milano cookies, we don't buy cookies either. He loves his Double Stufs, but other than that, if he wants cookies, I make them. Sometimes, but it's rare, he'll get a hankering for the milanos and we'll buy them, but only if they're on sale and we have a coupon. There's a PF outlet store in Reading at the VF outlets, so when we go there, he'll get a couple packages of milanos.
I don't use them as often as I should but do clip some. I shop at Jewel and have the Jewel card which takes off discounts that way. I always look for the products that are on sale - always. We also use coupons for eating out. Almost always.
Every paper product is done on sale and with coupons as is any cat food or litter that has one. Our food is at least on sale but some of the stuff hardly has coupons
Back on black friday I got paid nearly a dollar to take the litter as there was a coupon for it printed at register and I had some coupons going in. I have no shame anymore at petsmart sales
I use the coupons I find relevant for the things that I need. I won't go out of my way to buy something that I don't need just because I find a coupon, but I will take the time to look through the papers/etc and see if there are coupons available for the things that I use often. It definitely helps save a little money, so I love it!
