Ok, my beautiful himalayan cat has been scratching her neck area.  I use a vet recommended flea and tick on her which also takes care of any ear mites.  She was vet checked approx. 7 weeks ago and given a great report.  Now, she scratches her neck and I noticed hard, scab like very small pieces on her neck...almost like she was scratched or something but when I part her hair, the scratch is not red but more like a raised area with a scab on it.  Would anyone have any idea as to what this could be?  Also, is there a real good vitamin or hair tx I could use.  She is not missing any hair on or around these raised spots.  HELP!!

She might be itchy. Maybe she's allergic to something? One of my himmies developed a food allergy a couple years ago and she scratched and bit into herself too (all over the neck and lower back area) until there were little scabs everywhere. Now she's on a certain diet and isn't itchy anymore c: Ask you vet about the possibility of a allergy. And if she is scratching from an allergy hopefully it's just food...that's easy to fix. But if it's something in the air or something like that.....ugh, let's just hope it's not :p

It could be a number of things. The raised area could just be from her scratching herself or maybe an insect bite (where do you live?). If she's scratching a lot and seems uncomfortable you can give her a half Benadryl pill to help reduce the itchyness. Hydrocortisone cream or a topical benadryl spray may also help. If it continues I would give the vet a call.

Thanks so much.  My vet did see them and felt it was from the previous owner using the flea and tick necklace.  We cut it off right there and he checked her out real good.  Everything seemed ok but I felt like he thought it came from that generic necklace.  I use the vet recommended tx on both cats between their shoulder bone.  The areas are not red, all hair is there, but she prefers you scratch that part which is sort of starting at the top of her neck and follows down to the under part.  I am believing it was from the neck band.  I always check these spots daily but it just bothers me somewhat.  It doesn't seem to bother her too much, not alot of scratching, no raw areas or redness.  I wasn't sure if giving her some form of natural supplement would help.  Just a thought.  For now, I will continue to watch it.  We live in WV, she is an indoor cat, never had an indoor pet before in our home.  LOVING IT!!!
