Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and am looking forward to learning more to be a better owner.

Currently I am staying with my parents for a while before I move back to the States with my husband. I plan on taking my 5 year old male cat with me. So I'm doing my best to prepare him for the trip and free of stress. Unfortunately my mother and I are kinda butting heads on his feeding portions. I'm trying to get him to loose weight and she thinks he's just fine lol. Thankfully I've gotten him from 19lbs to 16lbs so far! Originally he was a stray 4 month old my sister and I found and decided to take him home with us ( more like he followed us!) We've fostered him for a few months before we fell in love and he became ours. <3

Everyone meet Francis!

Welcome to TCS!

Your Francis looks like a pretty healthy, large cat.  I have two who need to lose weight, too, and it's not easy in a multi-cat household.

Hi and welcome to TCS! :wavey:
Francis looks like a lovely kitty, if not quite so itty bitty. I love your avatar pic, very sweet. It does take time and patience to get them to lose weight, but it sounds like you're on track so far.

Welcome to TCS!

Francis is quite a handsome lil man!  I'm loving that belly!

I'm working on my 2 loosing weight.  It's not been easy!  I've cut down their portion just a bit at a time and they still race me to the kitchen whenever I go in there...often tripping me.  One has lost some; the other I think is hogging the food...

Yeah it's certainly taking a while, but I think if I keep it up he should be good. What I find difficult is to keep track of his food because someone in the house will either add more food or change it. I've requested for me to be the only person responsible for feeding my cat so I can make some observations. Let's hope my parents listens to me! lol

Hehe...good luck with that!  It would help if everyone is on the same page.  But I know how that goes.  I'll never forget when my cats spent a month living with my Step-Grandparents while we waited for a house to open up.   I was 12 at the time and my step-dad was military.  Since we couldn't have the cats in the temporary housing and his parents house was only 2 hours away; we left them there.  One cat; Tiger, was an indoor/outdoor cat before.  She fed herself off mice and what not that she caught a lot of the time.  So I think she got in the habit of eating whenever there was food available; as if her next catch might be some time away.  My Step-grandparents tend to like all things fat.  Kids, pets, etc.  So they just refilled the bowls whenever it looked low.  We left Tiger there a thin, healthy weight.  She was probably double in size (if not a bit more!) when we got her back!!  My other 2 (who were indoor only) put on some weight too, but not like Tiger!  You almost couldn't recognize her!  Fortunately no other pets had to go stay with them ever again!  But I am glad they wanted to take care of them and didn't neglect them or anything like that.

Hello and Welcome. I have one that needs to lose weight and I feel once I get him completly over to an all wet diet it should be easy for him to start losing. Your boy is very handsome!
