I know you can put Rescue Remedy in water but could you also put it in food? I've heard somewhere that you can also use it topically by putting it in furless skin but does anyone know if that's true? Oral medications usually can't be used topically.

Yes, that's how I administer RR to Ritz.  She doesn't drink enough water for her to get enough of the doseage.

I use RR when I think something will occur to stress Ritz out, like repairmen/women coming over or when I am away on vacation.

Ritz has stress-induced UTIs.  Last time I had repairmen come over, I put about three drops of RR every day o her (raw) food starting a day before and ending the day after they left (it was a two-day job).  The taste (if any) didn't bother her.  And, best of all, no UTI.

I too have heard that people put RR on fur knowing that cats groom themselves.  Ritz freaks out when water accidentally splashes on her, so I thought placing it in the food was a much better method.

Well, it's not actually designed to be ingested. It's like aromatherapy. The scent is what's supposed to help. To put it "on" them, you don't just put drops on them. I drop it on my finger, and rub it behind their ears, on the base of their neck, at the base of the tail, and under their chin. They don't even notice it's happening, I'm just petting them, and then the scent is there, wafting around.

Are you sure it's not designed to be ingested? The bottle says to put a few drops in a glass of water and drink it.

I was a buyer in the wellness dpt. @ our local co-op for 6 & 1/2 yrs. (I had product ed. on these) & YES, it is meant to be ingested. It is not aromatherapy, it is a blend of flower essences.  There is even a Pet Rescue Remedy, the only difference is that it is in a glycerin base instead of an alcohol base. ( the children's is the same, in glycerin). They are great & very safe. Flower essences are used w/ babies to the elderly. You can read up on them @ the link below.  Yes, you can also use it topically if you need to. I usually put drops on treats. So yes, in food is o.k.

You can get more info & charts (there is a great pet chart too). on www.bachessences.com.
