The cat I have now I have had for about three years, his name is Wilson.

He is named after Wilson from the TV Show HOUSE MD if anyone was wondering. Not the volley ball on Cast Away and not the neighbor on Home Improvement (LoL yeah people ask those two first)

My Ex-Girlfriend helped me pick him out at a shelter when he was about a year old. She has since left me, but he has not and I love this guy to death! Me and my ex used to joke that his full name is: Willoughby VonSnortsenburger...because he has a polyp in his sinus cavity and it causes him to snort like a pig....although as stated in another thread I posted, I have had him checked for it repeatedly by the vet and he's absolutely fine, he just happens to snort.

He loves to play fetch. His favorite toys are plastic straws from drink cups. Actually it's gotten so bad that I can't set a fast food soda cup down or he'll try to attack the straw and pull it out before I'm done drinking! Also he seems to have a hidden stash of straws somewhere in this house that he's not telling me about and will randomly show up with them and expect me to throw them for him. He is passionate about playing fetch, if you stop paying attention to him during a game of it he'll nip at you until you pay attention to him again.

He's a very friendly, loving cat. He LOVES to snuggle, and he sleeps curled up by my legs every night, well I always fall asleep with him like that but usually by morning he's on his at tree, he loves that thing!

I also have a Rottweiler named Shelby and at first he was afraid of her but now he loves to tease her into chasing him as he knows she is fat and he can easily run away or hop up on things to get away from her. He rarely ever full on meows, he does make little purring meow sounds but only really full on meows when he's lonely or he has found a bug he wants to alert me of. One night a few weeks ago he was sleeping on my legs, he looked up, let out a loud meow, looked around and was back asleep in seconds, it made me laugh.

He loves food and not just cat food, he is not a picky eater at all. He will try to eat anything that anyone else is eating. I have seen him eat everything from potato chips to crackers, of course I do not allow him anything that will harm him, but he has been known to try to sneakily jam his paw into anything I am eating and then lick it as if he was trying to get a taste or even scoop some up into his paw to eat.

I have had three cats before him, Mickey, Darien, and then Olivia. I loved those guys too, but Mikey was hit by a car (This was about ten years ago) and was technically my sister's cat. He was a mean spirited tom cat, but I loved him just the same, he had a interesting personality. I still miss him.

Darien was my cat, given to me as a birthday present on my 16th birthday, only for my parents to give him away to punish me for bad behavior in school about a year and a half later. He's most likely still alive somewhere as that was only 9 years ago and at most he would be 10 years old right now and was raised as an indoor cat so I just pray he was well taken care of. They didn't let me say goodbye to him. (Oh and yeah I hate my parents....that's just one of the millions of reasons)

Olivia, I adopted her on a whim and knew I couldn't keep her because of where I was living at the time. She was a tiny little thing, even full grown (she might have been a runt) but I ended up keeping her for a year and finding her a good home on a farm with horses. I get reports about her every so often, apparently she has had a litter of kittens and there is one horse she likes to hang around with all the time on the farm.

Like I said, I loved all my kitties, but Wilson holds a special place in my heart. He is unlike any of the cats I have ever had, and I love him to death! I spoil him rotten, cave in to his demands for food more than I should (He's got a little belly but is not at all overweight) and I talk to him and praise him a lot. I even got him a 150 dollar cat tree to play on and he loves that thing, it's over 6 feet tall! When I moved to this house two years ago from a small apartment I insisted that my new roommate help me take it because Wilson would be sad without it....and he did help me move it. In the summer it's on the enclosed balcony for him to lay on and in the winter we move it inside for him to sleep on. He's my buddy, he was there for me when my psycho ex moved out and my only companion for a year and a half when I was on my own without her. He is friendly to everyone, loves attention, and just a really nice cat. I hope that I have him for years to come but knowing about his respitory problems and how the vet warned they could get worse as he ages I get worried that I could lose him sooner because of his problems.

What baffles me is he was adopted as a kitten, kept for about a year, and then given to a shelter with no real explanation of why they didn't want him any more. He's the perfect most sweetest cat in the universe and though it pains me that someone would give up this fuzzy guy for no reason, I am also happy they did or else he would not be in my life right now!

Sorry for the long post!

Hi and welcome to TCS! :wavey:
No need to apologize for the long post - we all love talking about our cats here! You'll never know what random reason Wilson was given up, but it seems lucky for him that he was. He's now got the perfect home with you. :)

THanks for the welcomes! Oh and I know this is a cat forum but I had dog a while back who was also a rescue, her name was Sydney and even to this day if you ask my parents about her they will both say she was the best dog ever. We got her when she was about a year and had her 10 years before she had to be put down. I just can't wrap my mind around who these people are who are giving away these sweet animals! How could someone have not loved Wilson or Sydney? I guess it doesn't matter because we got to have them instead but it just hurts that people would be so cruel!

Welcome to TCS!  Wilson sounds like quite a character!  We would love to see pics sometime if you haven't posted any already.  I haven't been to the Fur Pics forum yet tonight.
