Little Cristian and his mama were flown to Denver today from Billings.  There is an artery that isn't closed in all premies, and his wasn't,  They gave him medicine, it worked to an extent, but not enough.  His breathing was raspy yesterday.  He is in surgery now.  I'm glad I have college right now to focus on, because I know I would go insane if I didn't.  All this is kind of making school a little tougher, I would rather be with my sis.  But, there isn't anything I can do but offer prayers, love, support, and an ear if she needs to vent.  There is going to be a benefit on March 30th and the band my brother and husband are in , Madcap Circus, will be playing.  This is their first gig, and even though it is free, it means a lot because our brother will get to play to help out.  So I am helping out with the benefit to try to keep myself busy.  Ugh.  I can be strong around my family, but once everyone is away, I just kind of crumble.  Not my little sister, not my nephew.  This is the first baby born on my side of the family.  She is my stepsister, but I don't Step-love her, I love her.

Thank you all.

Be safe.

If nothing else, it just feels good to vent a little and share updates with someone.   Thank you. :)

for you and prayers for Cristian, your step-sister and your entire family. It sounds like what my nephew had when he was born (an artery wasn't completely formed so blood ran backwards into his heart...is that it?) If so, it is not uncommon and, while it sounds terrible, the surgery should go off without a problem and take care of things. Well, except for the bills of course.

Its great that there is a benefit for her and Cristian and that your brother and husband get to play. My husband and I organized a benefit for our friends who's house caught on fire and they basically lost everything. A few suggestions (if you haven't thought of them already), go to local businesses and see if they will donate anything for a door prize or a raffle. Most businesses have "promotion costs" written into their budget because it is good publicity, although you may want to have a letter from the doctor so they will have proof that it is legitimate (I had to supply a copy of the fire report to some businesses, others didn't ask for anything). Also, sell as many 50/50 chances as you can during the benefit. Maybe it's just around here but they bring in a load of money especially if its for a good cause. Can you get your hands on some tip sheets in your state for the raffle of the nicer items donated? I know they are not allowed in some states, but they seem to go better than actually buying and filling out raffle tickets especially if there is alcohol at the benefit. You've probably already thought of all this but I wanted to throw it out in case you haven't.

Please let us know how the surgery goes and that everything is ok. I think it's good that you're helping with the benefit to keep yourself busy!

From my sister's FB "So Cristian still hasnt woken up and is relying completly on the ventilator to breath now. They also had to put in a catheter. On the positive side they were able to bump down his blood pressure meds a tiny bit. Also they dont carry his size diapers so his are too big and his skin is really dry. Oh they said only one eye is fused shut now so when he does finally wake up he can see us :)"

I am glad she is working to stay positive.  I am still scared.  Maybe if I was there, I would feel different.

I'm feeling a little wore down.  The band is practicing more, so I have people at my house more. I don't mind... I like all the band members.  There are only 3. My hubby, brother, and a good friend.

Thank you.

Waiting for my positivity to kick back in again!

Be safe.

:) ty.  I'm not sure if that is exactly it.  Getting detailed info out of my sister is not so easy right now.  She is so in the moment with everything going on, she isn't thinking beyond Cristian.  I don't blame her.  We are all on the edge of our seats waiting for any info.  She takes moments to updade fb once in a while, but the info is short.  You can call her my sister, it's easier to type, and that is what I call her anyway.  The only step I have trouble not saing step, is my stepmom.  I feel disrespectful to my mom for calling my stepmom mom, so... It's not a lack of love, or disrespect for her, just... ... my mom... mom is mom.  Andy is my stepmom... it's a hard situation in my head I havent figured out yet.

There is a boy in one of my classes who was born at 1 pound, 2 ounces. He is COMPLETELY normal and no one ever would have known about it, but he decided to tell us one day. And this happened over 2 decades ago! It is amazing what babies are capable of. Here's hoping to a fast recovery for your nephew! He sounds like quite a fighter!

I'm sory. Things got a little hectic.  My husband and litle brother's band was set to play the benefit for my sister.  A week and a half before the gig/benefit, my husband's back started hurting more, and his arms got really weak from the herniated disc in his neck. (it is pushed halfway into his spinal cord, and causes more permanant damage to it every day.)  By the time the day of the benefit/gig rolled around, my hubby was doing better, but has a hard time playing bass now :(  The drummer and his girlfriend broke up that day, and it turned into a horrid drama night. The band played, did great.  $13k was raised to help my sister. :D   One couple bought the Harley Sportster my sis and her hubby put up for auction.  It sold for $7900, and the lady who bought it gave the bike back to my sister.  Everyone cried.  I have it on video, and posted it to FB.  It was beautiful!! We had a projecter hooked to my laptop playing dvds of Cristian fr people to see him.

He is doing pretty good.  They are having problems with infections.  One of the puppys my sister's dog had last summer is now in training to be a service dog for Cristian.  He is gaining weight.  He is a very strong willed boy.  He's got the fight from both his parents in him.  This is pretty hard on his parents.  Both strong willed, and bull headed, they tend to butt heads a lot.  It's kind of good for him, because he needs that kind of personality trait to help him get through this.  He is on and off of the respirator and oscilator.  I haven't heard anything for a few days.  The updates have slowed down from her.  We get them when things change now :) Things still change every few days, sometimes from hour to hour, but it seems like everything is improving everyday for him.  :)

School is almost out.  I am struggling to keep up.  Things seem to be settling down for my sister some.  Things are lining up for my hubby.  They HAVE to do surgery.  They WON'T do it until he gets all his bad teeth pulled.  A lot of dentists said they wouldn't help because we needed to pay up front.  Neither one of us are working.  He can't work.  DVR gave him paperwork for some denal association to help.  They turned him down, witout looking at his application.  DVR Faxed them their cover sheet for the app stating that one requirement to be met was that it was an immediate need for health.  He NEEDS them out for surgery, so he can quit damaging his spinal cord. So, he goes in for his first appt on the 17th with the dentist.  He also has a hearing with Unemployment, who won't help him because they don't believe that he is physically unable to work at this time. His DVR counsellor will talk to them and get that straightened out.  I hope so.  I would like to not be 2 months behind on rent and utilities.  I"m stressed.  I'm on the verge of giving up and just saying screw it all, who cares. I am still pushing myself to get my homework done.  I will pass my classes and continue with my school.  I will not let these silly little circumstances get the better of me and make me quit.  Things will work out for us, he will get his surgery, and he will be better.

Be safe

sorry so long for update, my plate is full and cracked down the middle.  Glad I have my Shadey to sit on my lap, or sleep on my lap while I do homework.  Makes my homework time so much more fun and enjoyable. :)  I love my kitties.  They make my life better because they don't let anything happening in our lives get them down.  I wish I was a cat sometmes :D
