It was the Summer of 2010, I had my 3 Charmed girls- Piper, Phoebe and Paige. I wasn't looking into getting another cat. Around the 4th of July, I noticed a very pregnant and very beautiful tuxedo girl coming around and visiting my girls through the windows. I quickly made friends with her.
Because my neighbors are ignorant and cruel to cats... Many of you know the story behind them so I won't rehash it. Anyway, I didn't want this sweet momma to be or her babies to meet a bad end. I brought her into my home after I took her to the vet to be looked over, of course. I decided to name her Genevieve. She is gorgeous. She has a long and fluffy coat. No mats. She has been well cared for. I start to wonder if she is an accidental runaway? So I put up fliers in my neighborhood.
A couple of weeks pass and she has 4 beautiful kittens. I name them Sir Lancelot (brown tabby boy); Morgan La Fay (black and white girl); Ann Boleyn (grey tabby girl) and the runt... A brown and white tabby boy... King Arthur. It was a joy to watch the all grow up and reach milestones. I grew very attached to the runt, though. Half the time, his siblings would not let him nurse and I would have to bottlefeed him.
Since I had heard from no one, I had Genevieve spayed and I found her a home. A wonderful home, too. I find the kittens homes, too. But I could not bear to part with King Arthur. He ended up staying with me.
Around Christmas time, I started seeing a Maine Coon cat wandering around. He hangs around the windows too and chats with my girls and King Arthur. I check him out, again well cared for and he has tags. He lives around the corner. I take him home one day... It turns out, he is King Arthurs father!! Genevieve was named Kiki and she is half Maine Coon... Daddy is pedigreed though and a breeder. They had meant to get Gen fixed and didn't get to it quick enough. They just put her out when they realized she was pregnant!!! They couldn't sell the kittens as they couldn't be pedigreed!! Makes me sick!!
So, King Arthur and his siblings are 3/4 Maine Coon. That's pretty cool. It explains his humungous size!!
Well, things were and have been good with Genevieve and the other kittens, I hear about them all the time. But, Morgan La Fay's people got pregnant and decided they could not keep her anymore this past fall. So, she has come back to live with me forever, too.
And they all lived happily ever after...........
