I took Ella last Thursday to be spayed along with one of my the rescue girls. Everything looked like it was healing nicely until last night I went to check the incision and Ella's belly was bloody and there looked like there is a little bit of a gap in the incision. The incision itself is only about an inch long, and they use disable sutures and skin glue so it is tough to tell. Not  to mention that she is being snappy and wont really let me look at it, so I think she is in pain. I tried to put a cone on her so she will leave it alone but she somehow managed to escape it. We are going to the vet in an hour to have the vet look at it, but I don't know how I can keep it from happening again or how to get her to leave it alone, I'm not even sure how she did it in the first place, I was at work.

To add to the bad luck, I think the girls brought home a bug, I know have sneezey watery eyed cats.

When I saw the title of the thread, I thought no big deal. . .popping one stitch after almost a week isn't going to hurt. But if there was blood and she seems to be in pain, that is a big deal. Sometimes vet will put staples in if a cat pulls her stitches out. Staples won't come out without human intervention. You can also try to put a tube sock or baby onesie on her to prevent her from getting to the incision. I hope the vet fixes her right up!

So there was not that much reason to freak out, Ella has just been licking her stomach when I am not around and has irritated it and made it infected which explains the redness that I thought was dried blood. No ripped stitches thankfully. She is just going to have to take an antibiotic and it should get better, she is licking more around the incision so hopefully the antibiotics clear it up quickly, if not I guess we will be back at the vet.

That is good to hear and hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and make it all better. Taking your cat to the Vet is always the best decision and I am sure your cat is thankful you did!
