OMG OMG,bad meowmy, she slipped out when dh put the bins out about 3 weeks ago,I didn't realise until i realised I hadn't seen her for long and the saw her sitting on the windowsill. None of my cats slip out,she is just so fast and we have been so cautious since. I am waiting for a voucher to have her spayed from the rescue where I got her from. No vets around me will spay until 6 months, she is 5,the voucher the lady said at the rescue said will be with me in time for her being 6 months. I have found an early spay vet quite a way from me but they cost £60 and dh lost his job in december we just do not have the cash for the early spay, the adoption fee for Angel included her spay. I have noticed tonight her belly on one side only def looks bigger. We have a lot of stray un nuetered males around here.OMG she is only a baby herself, how stupid, stupid of me. i cant let her have kittens,no way it will ruin her,I never thought for one minute that half an hour outside could have resulted in this. I have only ever had one pregnant cat and she was already pregnant when we got her.

I agreed when  got her from the rescue that she would not be used for breeding
what can I do. I am so,so angry with myself for her getting out,we have made sure it hasn't happened since but my mum said it only takes a second.

  What can i do?

x

Oh no! How difficult for you!

There are really only 2 options. Either let her have the kittens or get her spayed right away. At her age I'd go for the spay (well, at any age, but especially since she's so young). Maybe if you call your vet and the rescue and explain the situation they'd get together to spay her now, the vet can wait for the voucher to come in the mail? I really do think that contacting the rescue and the vet would be the best first move, and let them advise you as to the best course of action. I can't imagine the vet would rather let her have kittens too young than spay her "too young".

I would say that you could hope that she wasn't old enough to get pregnant yet, but in my experience fall kittens usually do go into heat younger, and usually in January :(.

Thank you, I know she definitely is old enough to fall pregnant. I don't want her to have kittens, she is just a baby herself and it would wreck her I know it would plus the poor kittens there are already so many unwanted kitties as it is. I am scared to call the rescue as I promised I would not let her get pregnant, you do not realise how bad I feel, thats if she definetly is. I just think she is as she is profoundly bigger one one side I picked her up long ways and showed dh,he agreed. As dh is unemployed we get free vet care from the PDSA should I ring them? They wont spay but they would be able to confirm pregnancy I think.x

We spayed a kitten today that was born last July. She was about three weeks along in her pregnancy. It is sad but better for the mother cat overall since she is a kitten still herself.

I agree totally,I really do,the cats have no choice if they get pregnant or not. She is such a nutter, mad, brilliant baby and I don't want to lose that.I love her so much, love all my kitties, this has never happened to me before, ever. It does sound harsh but like I said there are so many unwanted kitties.I love cats but if she had kittens and I rehomed them are these babies guaranteed good, forever homes?x

The rescue will, or at least should be understanding. She is very young and they hadn't sent the voucher, cats slip out, especially young rowdy kittens. It happens. See if you can get the spay now, abort the kittens and move on with a lesson learned.

Oh Ruthy! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

I would definitely speak to the rescue organization where you adopted her. The vets don't spay before 6 months, you didn't have the voucher - and you can't afford the early spay, but you do not want her to have the kittens. She is an indoor-only cat, this was a COMPLETE fluke/accident.... I am sure this will get sorted, hun! :hugs: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :heart3:

The only visible sign of pregnancy at 3 weeks is pinking up - the cat's nipples get bigger and pinker.  They don't start to 'show' for another week or two, depending on how many kittens there are.  So if your cat's nipples are normal - barely visible - she may well not be pregnant.

I have had a look, her nipples don't look any different, maybe she isn't? I have rung the rescue and they said the voucher should be here next week, there is nothing else they can do. I get free vet treatment at the PDSA so maybe book her in?x

Would it be the PDSA spaying her?  If so, ring them, explain the situation and see what they have to say.  I'm surprised the rescue are so dogmatic about 6 months though.

No I take the voucher to my own vet,I will have to pay about £10 towards the spay. I asked the rescue if i could have the voucher earlier, they get them from The Cats protection league and they said 6 months.I hope its here next week. The PDSA won't see her to confirm a pregnancy as they deal only with medical emergencies and ongoing illnesses.I just hope that I'm wrong, her nipples don't look any different and she looks slim today.x

Why can't you take her to your regular vet to confirm or deny if she is pregnant or not?

Sorry if I missed you explaning that.

We'll hope that she's not. . .but even if she is, next week should still be OK. :vibes: that they send the voucher right away and for fast mail!

Money is tight, and they can't afford the extra visit.

Ruthy, since the voucher people can't do more than try to get the voucher to you next week, what about ringing your vet, explaining the situation. Maybe they'll book the spay now and accept the voucher later, knowing it's on the way?????????????? :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

And why would anyone be telling you off? She's an indoor only cat that accidentally got out before she was spayed through no fault of yours - you would have had her spayed if you could have. Accidents happen. Let's just hope she's not pregnant! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

AWW please - this was an accident that your baby got outside!! No one would ever get all over you for that, hun :hugs: :grphug: I really hope that the rescue where you got her from will help you get her spayed. AND she might NOT be pregnant :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Thank you so much, means a lot I think maybe I am being paranoid??Her nipples, definitely don't look any different, she was outside probably half hour at the most and I think she would run off if any other cats approached her. I am paranoid when it comes to the kitties. Thats a good idea,I will ring the vets and see if they will do that for me,I can give him Janices number at the shelter so that she can confirm i have a voucher on the way. Because they come direct from The Cats Protection league she said there is no set time when it will arrive but she assure me that it should be here next week as its 4 weeks ago that I rung her to order one,I couldn't do it earlier because they only last so long and they try and get them to you when the cat is 6 months well Angel is coming up to that. Anyway I am waffling and I think she is fed up of me keep picking her up and looking at her.

I was discussing it with my friend earlier, she has cats and had hers spayed straight away when they were 6 months but she has another friend who let her kitten out at 4 months and the poor thing got pregnant, she is now on her 3rd litter and she said the poor cat looks like a wreck and she is still a baby herself,my friend has threatened her with the RSPCA if she doesn't get her spayed when this litter have stopped feeding from her. I just couldn't put Angel through that. I rescued a stray once years ago and was going to keep her but my cats wouldn't take to her,I took her and had her spayed though and she was pregnant, the poor cat was so thin already and had probably just had litter after litter, they spayed her and got rid of the babies, she went to The cats protection and the weight she put on in a matter of weeks after the spay was amazing and she was a different cat,she did find a home too. It does break my heart thinking of getting rid of the babies but the poor cats have no choice but to get pregnant the males certainly don't care and there are so many unwanted kitties out there already.x

Well,no voucher yet,but I think I was over reacting, she doesn't look any different in any way. My vet won't do the spay until I have the voucher. I was just being me I think and worrying for no reason. I think i worry more about the cats than my kids sometimes.
Lets just hope the voucher arrives soon.x

I'm sorry to hear that about the vet! I guess I understand... though it would be easy enough for them to verify that one IS actually on the way.

BUT I'm glad to hear it seems your fear was unfounded! :cross: :hugs:
