About 3 days ago we noticed our older cat's one eye's pupil is fully dialated. We thought maybe he hit his eye or injured it in some way, and since it was the weekend, we wanted to wait a couple of days to see if it would go away on it's own, but t has not. He doesn't seem to be showing any other symptoms nor does he seem to be in any pain. I am assuming we should go ahead and take him to the vet, but was wondering if anyone here has ever had this problem with a cat.

My Fuzzy was born with dialted pupils, he has that problem in both eyes.  The vet told me it must be something genetic and there's nothing I can do but keep Fuzzy away from the sun because it can affect his sight, but at night he has no problems.  Fuzzy is also crossed- eyed and can't see very well.

But your kitty's case is different because it happen just like that, I don't know what to tell you, he needs to see a vet.  I hope the vet can help and I hope he can get better soon.

Hugs, tammy

I would absolutely get your kitty to the vet ASAP. There are many possible causes of the different pupil size (called "anisocoria") and if left untreated, blindness can be one of the consequences. There is more info for you at this link: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pe...article/animal-health/anisocoria-in-cats/3877
If anisocoria occurs suddenly, you should consider this an emergency situation and seek veterinary care immediately to lessen the chance that your cat's vision will be permanently affected.
