meow mix

I bought one bag (original formula). The cats love it. Any comments?

I personally would not feed that to my cats, sorry. I wouldn't even feed it to my ferals, another sorry...... Not good by any stretch. The first few ingredients are no good for cats. Whole ground corn is the first ingredient. A bit no no for cats to eat IMO. I am sure the cats love it - it is like us eating a McDonalds hamburger every day for every meal. I wouldn't even feed it for cat treats........ Here are the first five ingredients, pretty scary IMO...... ground yellow corn, corn gluten meal, chicken by-product meal, soybean meal, beef tallow (preserved with mixed tocopherols), animal digest

Yeah, I won't feed it to my ferals either. I use Purina Cat Chow. . .which still isn't great but I think it's better because the meat ingredient is first. Yeah, "poultry by-product meal" is a low-quality meat source but it is at least a meat source. The fact that Meow Mix has TWO corn ingredients before the meat source makes me say no. And the artificial colorings! I hate colored pet foods (those colorings are illegal in a lot of countries!). Cat Chow has some but not as much as Friskies and Meow Mix. I consider Meow Mix to be one the lowest-quality foods available--only Alley Cat and store brands are worse.

What were your cats eating before?

I've given them Taste of the Wild, Merrick's Before Grain, Wellness... They have the habit of losing interest after eating two bags even if alternate. I was in the supermarket and just got the Meow Mix. I was surprised at how much they like it. Oh well, it's just this one bag. Thanks!

I'll use the ferals' Cat Chow as treats for the inside cats. They do like it a lot. I think they spray flavoring on cheap foods to make the kitties eat it.
