This is just the darndest thing... and I'm assuming coincedence. But, thought I'd check with all the knowledgeable TCS folks!

I've been battling a cold for the past week. My two boys have been lazing with me in bed, love to give headbutts to my face (especially after a sneezing/coughing fit), have been surrounded by mounds of tissues, and generally breathing my diseased air.

Imagine my shock when I noticed BOTH boys have runny noses & eyes! I always thought pets couldn't catch human colds... So this must be a coincedence?

I have not gone to the Dr. for myself (typical...), but I'll be calling their vet first thing tomorrow am to get them in and checked.

What are your thoughts? Am I correct in that they can't catch my cold? Or perhaps they are having sympathy symptoms?

I don't mean to laugh at their "cold"... But if you could see the 3 of us, you would see what a sight we are. I've got my cup of tea on the nightstand, I've taken a bowl of their water and put it on a tray on my bed...If I'm not wiping my nose, I'm checking their eyes/noses to see if they need to be wiped. If one of us moves and disturbs the other after finally falling asleep, we all glare at one another. LOL!

DH has retreated to the couch where he is loading up on vitamin C and hoping not to be infected too.

Thanks for reading, and I appreciate your input.

So far as I know, cats can't catch the same virus we do, although they have their own.

Now...if you want to look for zebras instead of horses when you hear hoofbeats (a medical expression meaning to look for the unusual), maybe you don't have a cold, but instead have a reaction to something new in the house?
