Do you ever take your cat(s) shopping to Petco, Pet Smart or other pet stores with you? How do they react?

Took Luna shopping to Petco & Pet Smart and she loved it. She sat in the shopping cart and had a great time. She enjoyed watching the birds, loved the cat food aisle, even found a cat bed she tried to jump into. When we got home she made it very clear she wanted to go back.

Midnight doesn't like going out anywhere so he wouldn't enjoy trips to Petco or Pet Smart.

Lynxx
used to foam at the mouth every time he got in the car, so I never took him to pet stores.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I do not have the guts to take a cat in the car unless I HAVE to. LOL

Mine are howlers, like non stop omg your killing me get me outta here Im gonna die HOWLING!

I have taken the dog before, but he is so dang excited to be there that he widdles on the floor sometimes and I get so embarrassed that I stopped taking him to stores like that. But if I take him for a little car ride the ladies at the gas station let me bring him inside if I carry him LOL.

The only cat I have taken to Petsmart was Walden. He is very laid back and I thought he would enjoy the outing. He did not :lol3: I just think you have to start them out as kitten's to get them used to the outings!!! ;):wavey:

The only time our cats leave the house is to go to the vet.   They hate being in the car and I know any new experience would get them very upset - especially Tony.   Tippy and Angel are pretty brave, but they're so used to their routine that I'd be afraid to take them anywhere that wasn't an emergency.   We told all 3 of them that they are sentenced to life in our house --- and I guess they're not complaining.

I am sure Monet would hate it if he's out of the apartment.

Cassie, I am not sure. I took her to work with me once to show her off when I got her, and she didn't mind it but that was months ago. Not sure how she'd react now

With as much as my boys Panda, Chip and Bailey went to the vet when they were younger, we usually stopped at petsmart on the way home. Now that they are big they still love to go shopping, but I will only bring one not all 3 like I did when they were small. Bailey is the funniest there, he will reach out and paw at anyone who is not paying attention to him, and if they stop to say hi he will flop over on his back asking for his belly to be rubbed. Zoe has gone a few times before too, she loves it but has to be on a harness or stay in the carrier the whole time or the wild child will be into everything and probably on top of the shelves, everything is a toy to her.

The only cat I was comfortable enough to take with me anywhere was our Rainbow girl, Banshee (aka The Queen B). I packed up a bag for her to go with me to visit with my parents and their Cocker spaniel, Ebony. We'd spend the day with them, so that she and Ebony could chase each other (and then fall asleep in a big cuddle on the bed).

She went to college with me for my public speaking class when I had to give a demonstration....I chose "How to Groom a Cat" and Banshee was my subject. She was wonderful and enjoyed all the attention. While we waited for our turn, she curled up on my desk in my arms and listened to the other speakers.

Banshee also was the kitty we took to visit Santa Paws every year and have her picture taken. She was so used to the attention and she thrived on being out and about with me.

She even went with us to our family reunions at a local state park....she sat on my lap most of the time, but we also went for walks through the woods at the park; she had her collar and leash and she loved to walk. And during the meal, she and I sat off to ourselves because she liked sitting on the table and helping me eat my dinner (and we knew that wouldn't go over well with the relatives!). All I had to do was rattle the car keys and say, "Banshee, ready to go byes??" and she'd be at the front door before I got there.

I really wish we would have had the PetSmart open here before she passed away....she would have loved going to PetSmart.

I don't think I would try it with any of the gang we have now. I tried taking Mollipop to different places, but she's just not comfortable in the car.

I used to take my rainbow bridge kitty, Velvet shopping with me on occassion. She was extremely dog-like though and walked on a harnesss/leash better than most dogs! She loved going for rides in the car and visiting with people at the pet stores. (In hindsight, now that I have therapy dogs and work around therapy animals; I think she would have made an incredible therapy animal had she not gone into renal failure; she was a social butterfly!

Here's Cassie from today. She enjoyed sitting there and watching me work. She was such a ham and took the new scenery and smells to stride.

Monet was hissing and growling inside his carrier the entire time!
