Before owning cats, I was never concerned about my life or what happened to me... Even if I die. Sure, I would be missed by my family but I was never "needed" or depended on. They would go on with life without me, if you know what I mean. I was not exactly depressed but my life had no meaning.

But now I have two cats, I value my life much more. I am now concerned about what would happen if I left earth. I feel much more needed and depended on that I now DO care if I die. I have always felt strongly that Monet saved my life. He came in a time when I really needed a companion, when I needed a reason not to purposely hurt myself or worse.

I do not know what I would do without my little hero kitty. He had turned my life around to a better one.

Does anyone else feel their cats or other pets change your life?

In a way, yes. Despite the fact that every pet we had growing up was given away or died young, I always had a passion for animals. After my last dog was put down in '99, I felt empty. I NEEDED a pet in order to feel complete. I had a hamster for 3 years...I even cried when he died peacefully in his sleep. Then a few more years went by...When the chance came along to get Parker and his sister, I jumped on it...I was not letting them go.

While the "animal" void is only half filled, it still has made me feel more at ease. My next goal, when I am financially stable, is a dog.

I love my kitty!

I have always lived with cats, so I guess I don't really have an answer to this question! I do know that my life would be so boring without my kitty, though!

I've had cats for most of my life, so I can't say it's "changed" it, but I can't imagine being without a cat or two around.

There's a reason I live alone, but with cats. Cats are waaaaaaaayyyyy better than roommates. :lol3:

I didn't have a cat live with me until I was an adult. So I know what it feels like to be without. Yeah, my life is better for knowing them. I like many at the same time for they play, they seem happiest.  I like the feeling of being in a cat colony. I tried to explain it to non cat people, but with no avail.
