For a little over 2 weeks now I've been trying to transition Mario onto wet food.  She's a complete kibble addict!

So for about a week and a half I've been using the Soulistic Chicken & pumpkin.  She has gotten to the point where she will eat her kibble right next to the plate of wet food - before she would refuse to eat her kibble if it was anywhere near wet food.  Lately I've been pilling her with her pred & pill pocket treats - dipping the treats in the chicken & pumpkin gravy so she gets the tastes in her mouth.  This week she has had two vomiting episodes, one on Thursday night (the first time I tried pilling her with the swipe of chicken, and one again this morning.  But the episode this morning didn't seem to bother her - I don't think her stomach was upset, I think she just drank too much water (and mommy was really lazy and didn't get out of bed until 9:30 so poor Mario was very hungry) so the too much water and food and acids just caused an upset! :(

So I am going to try a few more days of this method, but I've been thinking perhaps I should try and start with something completely brand new - no grains, no starches, nothing she's ever had before - and foods I used to feed her on a few years ago had chicken by-product in them.  (I haven't fed her anything with chicken by-product in it for about a year so I really do not think that attributes to her vomiting, but you never know).

So if I have another few upset tummy episodes this week (we've been pretty steady at 1 episode every two weeks), I may need to switch the wet food I'm trying to something completely brand new.

So here's what I'm looking for: a grain free, starch free (ideally I'd like to give her pumpkin, but that can wait until I've ruled everything else out) - something with venison, or rabbit.  No poultry, beef, pork, or fish and no peas since that is what she is eating right now.  Also - something in a non pate style.  Something with chunks and gravy - so I can use the gravy on her pill pockets and kibble to get her used to the smell.  Are there any of these out there? So far I've only found pate' ones.

Thank you!

That's a tough one. My cats usually prefer gravy-style, so I'm aware of a lot of the brands available, but I don't think I've ever seen anything with rabbit or venison. Stick around, though - someone else may be able to help!

Hmmm..... never seen pouches with rabbit or venison. But almost all gravy has some kind of starch - to make the gravy.

What about the Weruva fishy flavors? I know you wouldn't want to feed long term... but just to get her going? :dk: They come in a can, but are gravy style: http://www.weruva.com/cat-cuisine-seafood.php They do also have pouches: http://www.weruva.com/cats-in-the-kitchen.php

The other thing you can try is either Before Grain or Instinct canned. Yes, they're pate style - but you can buy the little 3 oz cans, and just mix water with them to make them gravy-like (that's what we did). And if you want her to have pumpkin, just buy plain canned pumpkin from the supermarket and mix a little bit into it. :dk:

Thanks Laurie!

I feel just terrible...I think poor Mario is allergic to chicken and here I am trying to make her eat it!!!  For the past 4 days I've been swiping her pill pockets in the chicken gravy and she's thrown it back up every time.  My poor baby!
(I also started the probiotic at the exact same time - stupid mommy!!!)   So now I'm not sure exactly what is making her throw up.  I stopped feeding the chicken last night and I gave her half a tablet of the probiotic instead of the whole pill and she was fine - so I'm hoping it's the chicken.  We'll see tonight when I try another half probiotic.  She seemed happy she didn't have to eat that chicken yesterday - she was so snuggly last night.

Wysong Au Jus - http://www.wysong.net/products/aujus-natural-healthy-dog-cat-ferret-food.php

It is 95% Meat and Organs, and completely starch free. The rabbit, for example, there is rabbit and nothing else: Ingredients: Rabbit. (No Grains, No Fillers, No Artificial Preservatives, No Synthetic Vitamins or Minerals, No Artificial Coloring, and No Artificial or Synthetic Anything Else.)
Venison: Ingredients: Venison, Water Sufficient for Processing, Venison Liver, Animal Plasma, Guar Gum.
Duck: Ingredients: Duck, Water Sufficient for Processing, Animal Plasma, Guar Gum

IMHO, this is as clean as it gets..... :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Thank you!!
Looks like my poor kitty IS allergic to chicken.  It's been 3 days since I've taken the chicken away and she hasn't vomited once.  I'm giving her half a pill of the probiotic.  Next week I'll start giving her a full pill.
