I come home from picking up the kids a the Vet's today to see a sign on the window downstairs saying that the fire alarm system is offline!
When I get to my apartment I notice that there is a voice mail waiting for me. It's the Fire Inspector for The City telling me that our fire alarm system is offline and that we (the agency) has to do something and that she will be back on Monday to reinspect.
I called the number she left and told her that I'm just a tenant and not sure why she left me the message. Anyway, it has to do with the construction going on and it is affecting the fire alarms and setting off a ton of false alarms. I told her about a month ago that the alarm had gone off 3 times in one evening because a radiator pipe in apt 203 exploded causing boiling water to spray and affected that apts 203, 204 and 103 and 104 and the basement.
Since then the alarm has gone off on at least 3 other occasions that I know of (maybe more when I'm not home during the day).
I gave her the caretakers phone number. Not much more I could do about that. I just know that I don't feel very good about not having a working fire alarm in the building. Granted I do have smoke detectors in my apartment.....3 of them. But still!!
