I received a free 3-month subscription to Sirius radio when I bought my Tucson. We'll be at the end of the three months and, of course, they would like me to subscribe. I do listen to it, particularly two of the stations: Classic Vinyl and Classic Rewind, both are classic rock stations and I like them both. I also like some of the heavier metal stations, too. I really like the lack of commercials....one of the things I really hate about regular radio stations is the undying stream of ads I have to listen to, just to be able to hear a song every now and then.

They offered a six-month sub for $95 with another six months for free and I'm thinking of taking the offer. But I have heard that they're a bugger to get rid of. They're difficult to contact and, if you decide to stop it at then end of your subscription, they'll just keep the satellite stream coming and continue to bill you anyway. And that it could get ugly.

Anybody have Sirius? Do you like it? Would you recommend it? Opinions?

My Mom has XM and she loves it. I would love to get Sirius (I listen to CBC Radio 3 from my computer all the time, on regular radio we only get Radio 1 and Radio 2 for CBC) but I just can't afford the monthly expense. Anyways, back to the question. My mom has never had any problems with it, although sometimes in larger cities when you go through certain areas where there are a lot of tall buildings it will cut out. Just something to think about.

Mike's parents have Sirius and love it as well. His dad got it for his mom for Christmas a few years ago. I think they did have some problems with it, although I can't remember quite what it was, but they were easily fixed and they had no problems contacting them.

A group of my friends that live in Halifax also had Sirius. They did cancel their subscription, with no problems, but kept receiving the signal for free. They had to move a few years ago though and once they did they lost the signal.

I think they're going to be like any company that you sign a contract with. You'll have to go through a lot of people to cancel.

Remember that you can also buy additional receivers that will work on the same signal/account as well, so you can have one in your office/home/another vehicle/etc.

Well, all in all, that comes down to, what? Less than $8 a month for a year of radio that you really like. I would do it.
