Could someone please tell me if I did this wrong. I split the hair between her shoulder blade, squeezed the tube until it was emtpy. I applied it touching her skin, it ran and got some of he fur greasy. I  tried rubbing(rubbing into the application spot) it in with my finger. Will Advantage still work or did I waste dose?

(This was my first time applying topical medicine)

This happens pretty much every time I use any spot-on with my dogs or cats. I have never had it work without getting in the fur and the fur being greasy.
I just leave it alone and eventually the greasiness goes away.

It typically takes about 24 hours for them to stop itching or you to notice a difference.  The greasy spot is normal.  However, I have never been impressed with Advantage.  I don't know of anyone in my circle of pet friends that has ever liked this product either.  We use Revolution.  You do have to have a prescription from your vet to get it but it is a wonderful product.  I don't know why but Advantage just doesn't seem to work?  If you can't get a prescription, try Frontline Plus, it is better quality than Advantage in my opinion.  But, Revolution is much more effective and in my area, it's pretty much more reasonably priced than both Frontline and Advantage but it's only available through a vet.

Thanks You, I think its working when she sleeps somewere she leaves dead and dying fleas. Im using Advantage 2, if I make the switch to fronline or revolution, is there a wait period between prouducts?

It says to wait 4 weeks.  But anytime I had to use Advantage 2, it would seem to work for about 2 weeks.  I think it only kills adult fleas and not the eggs?  Anyway, I have always noticed they start scratching again in about 2 weeks with that product.  I would assume it's OK to go ahead and use Revolution or Frontline Plus then... But you can always ask your vet if not sure.  Or you can wait another 2 weeks.  Good luck!

Hi, so glad your talking about this. I also have been thinking about switching. Angel has been on Advantage Multi for 2yrs now. It works o.k. , but feel like it could be better as well. (especially living here in NC) The reason I have kept using it is because it also treats heart worms & can't afford to buy these separately. I did see on line that Revolution also does this. Is that correct?  Are there any others that do both?

Cool, thanks for the info. I will see if I can switch. Hopefully it doesn't cost more. ( w/tax, the Advantage Multi cost me 18.19 for one mo. ) I know it's cheaper if I could buy the 6pk, but just don't have it in these tight times.

I don't know if you can get it in 1 dose?  I am sure you can.  Just ask your vet.  Not sure on price.  I always get the 6 pack (obviously!)  But I usually don't have to reapply for 2 months!  The 6 pack cost, in this area, about $8-$10 LESS than the 6 packs of Frontline Plus and Advantage.

Since she is leaving dead and dying fleas you probably need to treat the house as well.  The FAB is UK-based but it's advice is good:
