Female "yowling" keeping me awake

All the posts seem to talk about male cats yowling, but Peanut, my 6 yr. old female recently started early in the morning outside my bedroom door.  She won't stop even when I let her in my room, she goes under the bed and continues! She is spayed and I keep her food and water full. When I open my door, there are usually 4 or 5 of her toys laying there. She does this sometimes in the evening, but as soon as she finds me she stops.  Why won't she stop when I she finds me while I'm trying to sleep??? I have two other cats, 1 male and 1 female and neither of them do this at all. I hate being annoyed at her. Please help me sleep!!!!!

She needs to be seen by a vet to rule out any medical conditions.

That is definitely the first thing to do. Your vet would know what to look for, including possible loss of sight, which may be more prominent and troubling for her when the house is darker.

Once your vet, hopefully, rules out medical issues, there are things you could do. You could try play therapy (see detailed description here). Then, once play session is over and you've gone to bed, you need to absolutely ignore her yowling. No response should come from you - none whatsoever. It will be frustrating for 2-3 nights, but that's usually when the behavior stops. Again, only once the vet has ruled out medical issues.

Anne,

Thank you so much for so much information.  I will try the play time before bedtime. Makes sense because I usually find her toys at my door or on my bed in the morning. She is really healthy and crazy! It could be my fault...I haven't been well for a couple of months and now, I see, haven't been playing with her as much as usual.  Again, thank you for the great advice!

my cat does this frequentlycatman.gif but it only goes on for a few minutes.I honestly believe she needs love, I pick her up and bring her to bed with me,problem solved. It is so cool that an animal is so connected with meeyemouth.gif she does not do it with my wife or daughter.

Muezza,

Thanks for the input.  I've been given and read conflicting advice.  I've tried calling her to bed to cuddle and it seems to work about 50% of the time.  I'm also going to try Anne's suggestion of playing with her more before bed.  Hopefully both will work!  I love her so much.  She's a crazy feral my son rescued from a dryer duct when she was about 8 months old. Even though my son saved her life, she connected with me and is my girl, and will lash out at others when she's not happy, but never with me....she prefers to be up on my shoulder and will sit there when I'm cleaning the house!  She's so smart....plays fetch like a dog, runs up along walls like a ninja, puts her toys away when told to, and is the giggles of our house!  Thanks again for the input. Really appreciated.

Thanks again.  Playing with her before I go to bed and inviting her to cuddle when she does wake me seems to be helping a bit.  I think when she figures how she has me whipped, things will go much smoother at night!
