Few behavior questions..

Question 1:

Cassie almost 12 months, has a fetish with my hair/head. I sit on the couch or lay on the floor, and she'd often goes crazy in my hair.. rubbing her head firmly against mine, chewing and biting at my head and hair, running her paws through.. kinda cute and thankfully she does not do this when I am asleep! Why does she do this? Here's a pic:

Question 2: I know it's a sign of dominance, but I am wondering something more about this Behavior with Monet. At night as I am getting ready for bed, Cassie likes to lay on the edge of it. This is where Monet jumps on her, mounts her, front and back paws together, bites and hold her scruff for minutes. Occasionally during this, his rear would "twitch". I'd think he's trying to hump her, but he's not making humping motions, just holding her still with an occasional twitch of his rear or two. Is he trying to do more than assert dominance?

laughing02.gif Okay, that pic of Cassie on your head is hilarious.

My best guess is that she may just like the smell and feel of your hair. My one childhood cat, Tiffany, used t be obsessed with grooming the back of my head. She hated being touched, but would climb up behind me on the couch, grab my head and groom it until she was satisfied. Grooming is a sign of affection for cats.

As for Monet, it sounds to me like a dominance behavior. LDG posted this article awhile back that talks about cats mounting and humping: http://cats.about.com/od/behaviortraining/a/neutered_cat_humping.htm

If I remember Monet's age correctly, he's probably just about getting into the bebinnings of adulthood and very well my feel the need to assert his dominance over Cassie.

Hopefully someone else will be able to offer a bit more insight.

Monet will be 4 years old in a month. Hard to believe he's been with me for that long already!

I do believe is a dominance thing but I wonder if he's trying to mate with her too?

Cassie is grooming you.  It's a sign of affection and acceptance.

My (RIP) cat Harley used to obsess over my hair as well. It was pretty funny, though he usually liked it best when I just got out of the shower; he'd chase after me until he could lick the water droplets out of it. That picture of you and your kitty is so funny. As other posters suggested, she's just grooming you. She loves you!
