Has anyone tried Newman's own Beef?

I got Newman's own organic beef because it has no carrageenan..  I wonder why the color is so pale, like lard.  Isn't cooked beef supposed to be dark?  Does anyone think the quality is good?

I haven't used Newman's cat food but my DH uses the dog food.  He liked it better before they changed it.  He said it was wetter before the change but it still contains carrageean (sp?).  The dog food is also pale color & he thinks it is because it has more fat in it.  I wonder if pressure cooking would cause the meat to be lighter.  You might try contacting them.  They usually answer in a couple days.

Thanks for the reply.  I will ask them about it.  The food has only 4.5% fat, so I wonder what is really in the can..
