My kitten today is very sick with vomiting and bit of diarrhea also has a bit of bloody liquid coming out of his bottom?
I took him to the vet and they gave him some medicine to take twice a day for the next three days.

Has anyone had this with their cat and has had their cat feel better within three days?
I hate seeing him suffering hes so sick and im hoping he will be ok.

Thank you for your time and replies xx

I don't know anything about these kind of issues. But I hope your baby feels better soon.

You've done the important thing and been to the vet.  Did the vet give a diagnosis?  Did they say how long it should take to get better?  What is the medicine?

If it's gastroenteritis then your kitten should be well on the mend pretty soon.  Keep an eye out for dehydration, you can check by lifting their scruff.  When they are fine it springs back, as they get more dehyrated it gets less and less springy, like the skin on the back for your hand as you age.  Sadly that can't be cured with fluids!

Odd they didn't tell you what they think it is. The name of the medication may help us help you. Did you take a sample of the poop for analysis? Did they take a sample there?

I'm not familiar with any medication that's given for three days, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. :dk:

How's he doing today?

:vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Thank you guys! :)
He is doing so much better now! thank goodness! He was in soo much pain and suffering like hell on the first day :( it made me cry! (yes im pretty emotional) He was full looking up at me crying to me..

I took him to the vet first thing in the morning (happened during the night) And the vet said its pretty common and asked me if my cat grooms himself a fair lot and i said yes. So must of been something to do with that or something he may of picked up.

The vet also gave me this medicine that has to be given to him for three days (mind you, day 2 he is back to his normal self and all betters again =D)
The medicine is called scoube or something (cant really make out the writing) Its just some certain type of antibiotics to get rid of gastro.
Its like this light pinky/creamy color liquid that i have to shoot down his mouth with a syringe twice a day.

Poor think froths at the mouth for few seconds after taking it. But its normal so :)
So yeahhh im just really glad he is doing ok now :)

He had me worried but just as well we got him to the vet and treated it pretty early.

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH for your support and care and comments <3 much appreciated :) xx

it can also be cused by a change of diet or stress, and a kitten on it's own in a new home is stressed.  With this kitten we don't know how old he is, we don't know how long he's been in his current home, we don't know if his diet has been changed recently, we don't know if there are any other dogs or cats in the house, we don't know if he has been wormed and we don't know what country the OP lives in.

However the last post from the OP said he was improving so probably all is well.

It would be great if they would come back and let us know how he is doing.

My kitten had this today. Started last night (he vomited a few times, all white and foamy but right before I took him to the vet it was kind of dark orange or light red which I took a picture and the vet said it was blood). At the vet when they took his temperature from the rectum the thermometer came out a bit bloody. He was given some meds which I forgot to ask the name but it is supposed to sooth the stomach or something, and given IV drip. I was told to bring him back tomorrow and monitor him tonight. No more bloody vomit but he just lies there looking very sick I am so worried. Not sure what happened. My other cats are fine. The vet said must've been sth he ingested like poison or something. Hope he gets better like your kitten did, your post gave me hope.

Do you have parvo where you are?

Sounds to me like possibly cat parvo (panleukopenia)

I hope not, it's very bad, deadly.

Turns out it was indeed parvo. Tested positive.
The kitten's gone now and so is his brother, one day after.
I don't know how they got it though. Both had been vaccinated and they were indoor-only cats.
Spent the whole of yesterday evening cleaning the house. My 3 other cats are fine for now.
The paw prints left on my work laptop are still there...

OMG, I am so sorry for the loss of your two babies :-(  I don't know much about parvo but I was told by my vet kittens can get vaccinated(which I did have done to my two kittens three times)  but now reading your post I am filled with worry and doubt :-(    Once again, I am so sorry this happened to your babies.

Oh no, that is just horrible, I'm so very sorry. We had a dog get parvo several years back, still have no idea how (our other dogs and cats didn't have it, thank goodness). It is a really horrible disease.

That's what I was afraid of but had to put it out there to you, it was screaming panleukopenia to me.

Very sorry :(

Now then, the rest.

If nobody else has any signs AT ALL now, get them vaccinated immediately. I mean like yesterday.

I wouldn't be surprised if you see others come down with it too, it's highly contagious, usually most or all will get it if one has, including mom hun, so be sure everyone gets an FVRCP vaccine ASAP.

You really can't clean it away effectively. Bedding and other absorbent things, clothing, towels, etc should be thrown away, never used again.

Clothes you can wash with very hot water and lots of soap, do it at least twice and run in a hot dryer, almost overdrying them.

This is one hearty virus! Do not allow any kittens or cats in to your home for at least 18 months who are not fully vaccinated.. That's how hearty this is.

Kittens must wait until a full week after their SECOND vaccine to be considered protected. Adults need a vaccine too.

Thanks for your kind words. The two kittens passed about one week after receiving their first shot. At 5 months old, it was rather late but they couldn't be vaccinated earlier due to a few issues, including having a long lasting bout of watery eyes and flu (despite frequent visits to the vet). So they got it when the vaccination hadn't really kicked in yet (takes 2 weeks to be effective I'm told). The other adult cats that have long ago completed their vaccination do not show any symptom (I'm watching closely and confine them to their cages for the time being).

Unfortunately they were exposed right around the very day they got their first vaccine. The vaccine won't do a thing once exposed, between maybe the day before, the day of, or the day after would have very likely been when they had exposure.

Your adult cats will be fine as long as they at least had kitten vaccines, even if years before this.
