How old is she?  You might as well make that vet appointment now.  Females will come into heat over and over and over again until they are mated.  It gets worse.  She'll start "calling", it's a really eerie howling sound.  It can last anywhere from a week to two weeks.  She may be "off" heat for another week to 2 weeks.  So you need to schedule her an appointment to be fixed.  Most vets won't do it if she is in heat.  They will wait until the cycle ends.

Do not let her out and make sure she is "contained" anytime you leave home.  Female cats are crafty when in heat and she will be out the door without you even realizing it... She'll come back most likely pregnant with a bunch of kittens herself.  Not good if she's under a year old!

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do now but suffer through it.  I am sorry no one told you about this.  Live and learn I guess. But get on the phone with a vet asap!!  If she hasn't had already, he'll want to do a full evaluation of her and give her her immunizations usually a week BEFORE spaying.

Sorry, for the double post but in the other thread you said that risk of death is the reason vets won't spay a cat in heat... I went looking through my textbooks and found the answer to your question...

" The spay is slightly more difficult due to the engorgement of the tissues and larger blood vessels. Spaying in heat does not carry a significant risk to the cat but, since extra surgery time is frequently required, an extra charge may be incurred."

As long as she is about 5lbs, they will go ahead and do it.  The "calling" is a little creepy, but it'll drive you crazy after a few hours!  Trust me!!  Basically she is advertising to any eligible males in the area that she is there and ready!  So if there are any toms in earshot, and there usually are... They will be spraying at your door.  So, it's best just to nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand!
