wavey.gif Hi everyone,

just need to rant really,my dh lost his job just before xmas,I still had my job and then 2 weeks ago I lost my job too bawling.gif They kept cutting my hours and I really needed them, turns out that business isn't brill for them either and all the new starters that started at the same time as me and just before lost their jobs too.Dh has been frantically looking for a job but there is nothing out there, same for me as most places require NVQ achievement to do my job and I was looking forward to doing that where I was. So we have been forced to claim benefits which is terrible,we have never claimed before and it feels so wrong. We went to sort it out last wednesday and they told us it could take up to 4 weeks to sort out sigh.gif which means no cash in the meantime,my mum bless her bought us shopping last week. Things will be ok when they get everything sorted it just takes time and I feel so crap at the minute . My phone bill is overdue so looks like that will be cut off next week which means I will lose my internet too,its going to take us a long time to sort stuff out and get caught up with everything. I have had to take my car off the road aswell as just can't afford to run it which means I can't visit my nan at the minute. Also having a lot of complicated family stuff at the minute my nan has the start of dementia and my auntie I feel is taking advantage,my mum has contacted a solicitor about it (its a long story I wouldn't even bore you with itlaughing02.gif) but its hit my mum and I very hard as we feel powerless.

Anyway just had to rant, tell you all I have a winter curse,I really must do,something always goes drastically wrong in winter. I just hope that things get sorted soon.x

It is a terrible time for business - I do hope you and your dh find something soon. Is there any way you can find a way to get your qualification while you are unemployed? Or at least start it so employers can see you are trying?

I did wonder that,I will ask them at the job centre,I so,so want to do my nursing but again you need the nvq's,thanks for mentioning that I will definetely ask. Dh is fully qualified at his job but there is no call for what he does at the moment.x

Ugh, I know what it's like to lose a job. Took me almost a year to find this job.. and I was on unemployment, took a temporary job as security in the city (WORST JOB EVER!!!!).. I was really struggling and thank GOD my parents were willing to help with my rent!

I know how you feel. Just keep sending resume's out. go through the phone book. Look on Craigslist (Thats how I got my current job), and sign up for Monsterjob.com and such. Best of luck, you'll pull through!

Thanks hun, thats good to know and would certainly help. I don't know much about what we are entitled to,its just a pain in the bum while we sort everything out,my mum has been good to us but I hate taking things off people but she is more concerned that the kitties and kids have food more than anythinglaughing02.gif x

Does he not fancy driving taxis?. Their always looking for drivers and a lot of taxi companies rent their cars out to drivers.  One of the drivers that l usually get said it's good money, but it's the weekends he misses

I know how that feels. Last April, my husband got laid off and then I got laid off in June. He is finally working again, but it is commission only so don't know what kind of money he is going to make. I am not looking for work right now...I went back to school. Getting laid off was actually a good thing for me because the government paid for me to go back to school (which is costing about $14,000 so I definitely couldn't have paid it on my own).

I hope you find work soon. I know its tough, but at least there is benefits to help you. smile.gif I don't feel so bad taking them because I have paid into it with every pay cheque I have ever had.

Thank you everyone my dh is a qualified 200 tonne dumper driver and we really need the cash that he could earn doing that,he has looked at all kinds of driving jobs but nothing really available and nothing for dumper drivers. I am going to an open day in march , I have always wanted to be a nurse and I have found out that I can get funding so why not do it? That doesn't solve our problems though,dh looks every day for work. Its just really tough while they process everything and to top it all of my mum spent money on my shopping last week and spoke with my dad today and he told me that they are mega broke too and now I feel so bad for taking cash off themfrown.gif x

That''s the cool thing about Moms, they will often go without so their kids are taken care of.

Anyway, just hang in there - something will come along

I'm really sorry about the job, hun. I know it was making you so happy - both to HAVE it, and the work itself. I do hope you'll find a way to earn the NVQ.

Things just have to get better --- so just keep your chin up.      I guess we can all relate to your problems and I imagine most of us have been in that situation at some time.     Take care and let us know how things are going.   We all wish you the best and hope things improve very soon.!

Thank you so much for that,I always try to think that whatever situation that we are in somebody else out there is suffering more and that is true. Everyone has hard times, ours unfortunately always seem to happen over winter or is it that it always seems worse in winter as you are kind of housebound?x
