We had three cats, two were about 15 years old and littermates when one of them developed lymphoma and had to be put to sleep a few weeks ago.
Ever since, her sister has been defecating around the house. We're not finding evidence of urination around the house, but small bowel movements. With another cat sharing the litterbox, we can't be sure she's avoiding the litterbox entirely, and she must be using it to urinate.
Can this be grief? She's behaving pretty normally otherwise. Can it be medical?
Any ideas will be most welcome, as we can't continue to tolerate the current behavior. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am sorry about your recent loss of your cat
and this new unwanted behavior. It is very possible it is grief and she is missing her sibling
... Again, Welcome, and I am sure you will get a lot of help here on TCS.
