I know my oldest baby is sick... She hides to sleep whenever she is sick.  She has been doing that the past 2 days.  And, today she had "stinky butt" (all you experienced cat parents know what I am referring to!)  so she had to get a bath.  Normally, she loves baths... But when it's for that reason, she hates it and fights with every ounce of energy she has!!  Luckily for me, she was too tired to really injure me so I was unharmed.

She's a generally healthy girl.  She will be 7 in May and has only been sick one other time in that whole time.  It was in the fall of 2010 and she had a nasty bug, pneumonia really.  She almost died!  She lost more than half her body weight and her hair started falling out.  It took her a couple of months to really get over it and be her old and gorgeous self.

This time is no where near that bad.  Doc A (her vet and the one I will be interning with when my time comes) had me examine her while I was on the phone.  We've ruled out a URI because her screaming confirmed her lungs are clear but I checked them anyway.  They sound clear.  So he thinks she may have a small infection or it could be as simple as allergies.  I had some left over Clavamox and it seems to help.  It perks her up.  Also some Ophthimalic ointment for her eyes as they are runny and goopy right now.

She is still eating good and her stools seem to be firmer.  She feels good enough for a few hours (usually after I give her some medicine) to come out of hiding and interact.  Not really playing but being social, at least.

Purrs and positive vibes for my sweet girl, please.  She has an appointment on Monday.  Doc A said she is in good hands and it doesn't seem to be an emergency right now.  Anyway, like any momma, I get frantic when any of my furkids are sick!!  Thank you!!

Awwww :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: For your baby.... yes, it is really awful when they are sick :(
Hopefully it is not going to be anything serious, just a minor bug, something that will go away very quickly, in no time :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
:hugs: for momma :hugs:

Piper is much better today and has been all day!  She hasn't been in hiding at all.  I am still giving her medicine but her eyes are clear again and she seems almost her normal self!  I am thinking it may have been just a small bug or allergies.  Either way, she has been feeling well enough to "discipline" the others for being brats!!
So I know she is feeling much better and on the mend!!

Thinking I might go ahead and cancel her vet appointment for the morning.  I think I'll save it for when she truly needs it!  Thank you for all the positive vibes and prayers!

Hope Piper is on the mend.  I have two kittes prone to goopy eyes, both were shelter cats when I adopted them.  (This immediately makes them prone to feline herpes....which is not an STD per se, but instead, just an communal disease that can cause intermitent flare-ups). Symptoms include any combo of the following: sneezing, goopy eyes, and bowel issues. The last time my older cat, Enrique had a "flare-up" I gave him ten days of Clavamox, which helped, but within a week, he was displaying eye symptoms again. Next, I gave him another ten days of Clavamox, but within days of finishing, symptoms showed again.  These persisted for a few days, while I kept his eyes clean using warm and wet tissues to gently wipe the messy stuff away. :(  I have finally found the solution to this issue, I am happy to say!  Go onto Amazon.com and search for "feline lysine" - it's an amino acid in "treat" form that you can feed your cat 6 treats a day as a preventative measure, and 12 a day during flare-ups.  It has helped my two prone kitties SO much, and they really love these treats too!  Hope this helps!

Thanks Merrydrake... Piper is not a shelter cat.  She doesn't have feline herpes.  For a Persian, her eyes are pretty clear without any extra help.  I am going to keep her on the Clavamox for another week or so and keep putting the Ophthimalic ointment for her eyes for a couple of more days at least.  Thanks anyway, though.
