I moved from my old apartment to a new one on the same floor.
As many know, my old apartment was recently treated for bed bugs. I freaked and refused to bring my bed to my new apartment so opted to buy another bed and send the old one to the trash bin. Anyway, long story short, the movers wouldn't take the old bed to the dumpster because of the risk of transferring bed bugs. They would have it had received a second treatment, but it only had one.
My new bed was delivered to the new apartment today. I asked that they leave the plastic on because the NEW apartment is scheduled to be fumigated on Friday. I had the movers put all of the furniture and boxes into the living room.
I bought a garmet steamer and it was delivered a couple of days ago. Tonight I spent 7 hours steaming my 2 end tables, dresser, 4 kitchen chairs, 2 pillows. I took out all of the drawers, and made sure I did every nook and cranny of the inside/outside of the drawers and dresser, including the under side. Now I've moved the furniture into the bedroom, confident that nothing survived that hot steam. I had to use an oven mitt to hold the hose because it was too hot.
I sent a letter to the agency asking if they would accept the steaming I did as a second treatment in lieu of the chemical one to be done on Friday. That chemical stinks and the bedrooms have carpet. That smell will sink in and be there for weeks and I can hardly breath since they sprayed the old apartment. I can hardly walk from one end of the apartment hallway to the other without having to stop and catch my breath today. Plus I'm sneezing so much since Tuesday when they sprayed.
Anyway, I"m off to have something to eat. I'm diabetic and haven't had anything to eat all day today. Then I have to go and finish getting stuff from the old apartment (stuff that wasn't packed). Tomorrow I'll bring over the food from the fridge and clean the fridge and bathroom there. That's all I'm expected to do for cleaning.
