Cat swallowing frequently

Although I saw a couple of posts on here about the topic, neither of them addressed my issue in particular.  My 17 yr old has kidney disease, and has recently started swallowing frequently.  Rather than take her to the vet again--I've already racked up a couple of thousand $ worth of debt on her and my other cat (deceased)--I would like to ask around here first to see if anyone else has received advice from their own vet about a similar issue.  If not, of course we'll go again, but I just thought I might get some insight from someone who's had the same experience.

Thanks!

Thank you SO much, stephanietx!  My vet said the same thing, so I started her on kitty pepcid last night.  It's really a challenge to give it to her an hour before eating on weekdays, but she said to do the best I could.  I joined the group, and am looking forward to the support.

Thanks again!!!

So glad I could help.  I had a CRF girl and know how disconcerting it can be when you can't figure out what's going on.
