Castro!!

Had my cat Castro put to sleep a few days ago.bawling.gif crying.gif

This the the same cat as mentioned in this post here - http://www.thecatsite.com/t/221371/inflamed-bladder-treatment

The inflamed bladder problem was actually a blocked urinary tract due to an infection. The problem was resolved with antibiotic treatment and after about a week he was fine!

Recently, he started vomiting. He was vomiting intermittently over a period of a few days despite fasting him for about a day and then feeding him slowly with boiled chicken. He had similar problem about 6 ~ 9 months ago, but he managed to recuperate. Unfortunately, this time the situation seemed to get a bit worse with decreasing appetite and with Castro vomiting bile also!

On discussion with a vet, it was considered that the wisest move would be to have him put to sleep.frown.gif

He was at least 13 years old (and suspected to be quite possibly much older; he was obtained from an animal shelter (SPCA) by previous owner, but there was very little background information on Castro). His symptoms suggested that there was a more serious issue here. Precise cause of Castro's vomiting etc was not determined.

Of all cats I've owned/known, Castro was by far the most affectionate!! And we became really close!!

Despite only having him (officially) for 1 year and 8 months, we bonded extremely well and I was extremely fond of him!

So when he went, I was (and still am) devastated!! bawling2.gif

Unfortunately I don't have any other pets at the moment.

I'll look at getting perhaps TWO adult cats (at least two years old) the next time round instead of only one cat.

Actually, Castro was adopted by chance, not by choice! Castro started coming over to my place soon after Castro's owners moved in to the neighborhood. Castro didn't seem to like the frequent barking of the neighbors dog; it appeared that he liked peace and quiet! Eventually he spent most of the time at my place anyway, and before Castro's owners moved on, I was asked whether I would like to look after Castro.

I had just recently had another cat put to sleep (Bris) and I was not specifically looking for another cat at the time. However. Castro was such a friendly cat and I sensed an almost immediate bond, so I accepted the offer to adopt Castro.

I'll never forget him (and the the other cats in my life). Castro and the other cats will always be in my heart!!! rbheart.gif
