Cats won't get out of the bed!

I want to wash and change sheets but Tony has been curled up under the covers since this morning.  If it's not him, then it's one of the others.  I don't have the heart to chase him off the bed so that I can remove the sheets.     Poor baby has such a tough life that he needs his sleep!    Am I crazy?   Do the rest of you do the same thing?   I have to change sheets based around the cats schedules!!!

My mother washed her bedding today and as soon as she was done, Parker curled up there. (He NEVER sleeps on her bed).

I was about to do mine, when he came strolling in, then got comfy on my bed. I decided to wait until tomorrow to do mine, he just looks so darn cozy.

I feel bad making Riley move too, so I wait until he's gone. Sometimes if I need it get it done now and cannot wait, I'll bring out some shake treats so he's more than happy to get out of bed laughing02.gif

Usually I chase them off. I figure that they have no qualms about awakening me at 4:00 in the morning for breakfast, so I don't worry too much about awakening them. They leave, I change the sheets, and then they jump back up on the bed and snuggled back down. Except for Mollipop and Tabby who both think it's great fun to "help"!

Nope I move Trout off the bed no problem when I need the sheets. Besides, she loves playing with the sheets while I change them anyway so she wins that way too..lol

I can move any of the kitties off without feeling bad, except Claire. I won't move her off to do the sheets. She has very few 'spots' she likes so I won't make her move. And she always gets so scared too and will run under the bed.....I just can't do it. Sheets have to wait until Claire is off the bed.

I know I'm in the minority here, but most of our animals aren't allowed in our bedroom for 2 reasons: A) our bedroom is VERY small with just enough room for the bed and 1 dresser, and B) they have the run of the rest of the house but this is OUR space. The two exceptions are Brooke (DH's dog that is quite content to sleep on the floor) and LittleOne who spends most nights curled up at the bottom of the bed. Harley comes in most night to get his love but he's done after 5 or 10 minutes then he goes back out. I just couldn't sleep if I had all the animals in bed with me. Some nights its hard enough as it is dealing with a bed-hogging husband!

That being said, when we did keep the door open all the time and had critters using our bed, I had no problem shooing them off.

I keep an extra pillow on the bed that's just for Sweetie.  I know he gets a lot of comfort from laying on my bed and he's usually quite welcome to stay there.  But when I need to make the bed or change the sheets I do move him to the floor, and even shut him out of the room for a short time if I need to.

laughing02.gif  LOL, that's so funny!  Yes, I have been gulty of that too (thier such big parts of our hearts, we can't help it heartpump.gif  ) ,  but have also used the shake the bag of treats trick as well when I really wanted to get it done.

I swear cats know when you're about to wash the sheets. Bowser hardly sleeps on the bed, but when he does, it's usually on laundry day.

laughing02.gif Its normally when I have washed the bed covers and want to put them back on again that I can't as there are cats on the bed and they just won't budge.x

Before DH and I got married I'd just pick the sheets up with them in it!  If they were on a blanket I could just put them in the corner if they wanted to stay.  Usually it got em moving though!  I guess I'm not so nice! laughing02.gif

I have no qualms about moving my cats off my bed. They spend so much time there, it would be impractical for me to wait for them to leave. Also, they tend to trap me in one sleeping position by sleeping with one pressed against my chest and the other in the crook of my knees (which is almost as uncomfortable as it is cute), so it's fair game if I want to interrupt their catnaps to wash the sheets.

I move them off the bed with no problem. They usually retreat to their comfy beds on the dresser until I'm done then it's back on the bed. THey like to watch but both are way to lazy to "help" laughing02.gif

I have allergies so I try to keep them off of the bed. Sometimes they'll look so comfy I just let them stay, as long as they aren't directly on my pillow.

Rosie was all curled up on my fluffy bathrobe on the bed this morning,  so l had to get another one out to put on because she looked so cosy!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who bases changing bed linens on when the cats say it is OK. And ya, I could not sleep without the babies in bed with me- just my thing!!!! I would never be able to ban them from the bedroom. For starters, they can open the door lol-- But ya, I just learn to work around my cats needs. They come first. In fact, I probably go the opposite extreme- I have slept on the couch before when I could not get in the bed becase they were taking up the whole thing.
