Getting to Know Each Other

Precious is 16, and for 14 or so of those years she had Osage (a feral I bottle fed).  She's the original grumpy butt; however, with only 30% kidney function, I'd probably be grumpy too.  When it comes to me, she can't get enough of her meowmy; night time is our real cuddle time as she likes to sleep with at least one paw on me.

I brought home a kitten this weekend, and for the most part Precious had been hissing and growling and then heading someplace where the kitten wasn't.  Tonight, they've stayed in the same room with grumpy butt sitting on HER UPS (favorite spot in the world to perch) and hissing when the kitten came too close.  She's also grumbling in this poor pitiful me mode.  I think the grumbling is an act, because I can pick her up and pet her and she'll keep complaining while purring.

All in all, I think tonight we may have made some progress.

When I suddenly brought kittens home, my eldest female was suspicious too. But after a few days when the kittens "smelled" like me (they were orphans and had to be bottle fed) they were accepted as part of the family. smile.gif

Well, the baby is semi-scared of Precious and Precious has done several chase across the floor "thwapping" the baby on the head with a paw hissing and growling while the baby hisses right back.  However, Treasure is interested in Precious and is now getting closer and closer to watch and observe.
